You have listed 10 players. TEN players. Ten Freakin players..... 2 with any experience whatsoever.

This isn't Iowa 5 man Junior High School ball...you do know that 10 players is the bare minimum you can practice with???????? This is the epitome of playing without a safety net.

And its lazy of you to ask me to prove a negative.

The question you need to ask is.... after next season with Mustipher and Bars leaving can any of these players make the leap to SUCCESSFULLY compete at the SOS ND will be facing over the next 2-3 seasons?

Other than Kraemer and Hainsey who semi proved they could compete last year, there is no experience. In college ball....that is typically an issue if you play very good teams week after week? Especially if you want to win 10+ games. If the idea is too compete and win 6-7 games, like most teams...then you can run with an inexperienced O-line, with a number of them being 3 star talent!!

What you can't logically assume is...well since a 3 star made All American this year....and we have a number of 3 stars.....we have a all American line

It's 8 man in Iowa, fucker

Seriously, Mulder & Scully, DARPA, and Bigfoot has a higher public profile than this kid.

What I said was....UND lost McG, Q, Hoge, Boudreaux and will lose Mustipher and Bars.....and has so far replaced them with Mabry, Dirksen and Jones....this is as far as I can tell a future problem.

Please don't bother telling me who we are going to get in 2019.....let's just wait and see.

Now for full disclosure....I did not see HH going to the NFL......But now that he has, I can somewhat understand the underwhelming 2018 recruiting class.

McG, Q Hoge, Kraemer, Eichenberg, Hainsey, Mustipher, Bars and Lugg were all highly regarded 4/5 star propsects. None of them were considered a reach and as a result ND got decent o-line play from these highly regarded lineman. Enough to get 10 wins in two of the past 3 years.

Now that the herd has been thinned of the best, you can count on taking a step back. You can actually take that to the bank.

No team can lose a McG and Q and replace them with our unproven soph's and not suffer....Bama and OSU included.

When Stanley left the Oline play fell of considerably. Losing McG and Q will be worse.

And final point....I bolded the line where you thought that I said....... 6-7 WOULD BE quality.....you misunderstood. From that list 6 -7 at most MAY be quality o-linemen (book mark this and pin it). They may play....but then again so did Jalen Elliot

You're talking about problems in 2019, but then complaining about 2018. Which is it?

No shit it's hard for any program to replace two AA guys on the OL. No one said, "Well snoop, we're just going to plug guys in, and we'll be just as good." Stop putting words in peoples' mouths. We expect the OL to not be as good this coming year, everyone expects it. However, you cannot come on here bitching that guys aren't ready for 2019 because "experience," THEN TOTALLY DISCOUNT we have 2018 to play where, you know, those guys will get fucking experience.

Of the OL you mentioned about quality play... 4 of them will be around in 2019. So, it's safe to assume that if they continue to get better, which generally happens in college, especially for linemen, we'd need 3 more to also develop for good depth as starter quality.

At least wait until after Spring Ball when we can over analyze 2 minute clips to talk about the OL play.

Stop worrying about the bogeyman dude.

Seriously??????????

I am talking recruiting in 2018!!!!!!!!!!.....Simple question.....can't you follow the bouncing ball and see how a weak recruiting effort will affect the future???? Especially in light of losing so much talent in a 24 month period (Hoge, Boudreaux, McG, Q, this year.....and Mustipher and Bars next)

We are going into 2018 with 10 scholarship O-lineman and no o-line coach. Now here is the difference between you and me....I see that as a problem....even getting NPF will not solve this.

It means the 2019 class will have to have5-6 quality O-lineman at a minimum just to be able to practice!!!! That's a very tall order.

It would be a rare event where a top P5 team started a season with 10 scholarship 0-linemen....but having almost all of them being frosh or soph's is challenging and to top it off, playing what will probably be a top 3 SOS.

And in all of this you don't see a problem....but I just see bogeymen?

OK, we get it guys...can we take this annoying banter that barely touches on NPF to another thread? Maybe one about O-Line or something. This argument has been going off and on over the past couple months and is not what I or others are looking for in the recruit's thread.

We will have 13 at least OL for 2018. Plus 3 current PWOs. Do we need to target some top tier talent for 2019? Yes, but you're over exaggerating this.

Anyway, I just saw Conner's post, so I'm done with this. You argue this with everyone, and no one is going to change your mind.

Final 247 rankings out - dropped 4 spots to #9

Why didn't he get dropped to 75-100? He got abused in the USArmy Game.

Anoma rode NPF's bloated R&R's to #3 overall after showing the world that NPF is a redshirt wherever he goes. He's not a seasoned, battle-tested LT like Hainsey was coming from IMG, he was an all world superhero playing on the a team not ranked in the Top 150 in Florida by MaxPreps vs. a 2A/3A (8A the highest) schedule.

That's the other side of the take we've been force fed by the services.

perhaps cos the OL class is so weak? It's really puzzling though.

https://247sports.com/college/notre...-and-5-star-OL-Nicholas-Petit-Frere-114094339

Here is the latest.

According to Berkeley Prep head coach Dominick Ciao, Notre Dame will go in-school and in-home with the 6-6, 272-pounder from the class of 2018, as the Fighting Irish coaching staff continues to do all they can to land the nation's No. 8 overall player according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. The belief is that it will be an assistant coach or two this week and then head coach Brian Kelly the following week.

As it stands now, there are five major players in this recruitment including Notre Dame, Florida, Alabama, Michigan and Ohio State. The 247Sports Crystal Ball currently favors the in-state Gators over the Irish and Crimson Tide.

Regarding official visits, Petit-Frere has two trips left. He was at Notre Dame on Oct. 21, at Michigan on Nov. 25, at Alabama on Jan. 19, will head to Florida this weekend on Jan. 26 and wrap things up at Ohio State on Feb. 2.

A decision is expected on National Signing Day.

Because the recruiting services are in the business of selling subscriptions, not accurately ranking highly-coveted prospects, and having a bunch of schools after a top 10 guy, rather than a top 20 guy, is more exciting?

I think there is actually some truth to this. NPF is an incredible prospect, and they should rank him based on where he projects down the road, not right now. He is a future starter at LT.

But there does seem to be a desire to keep the big name kids who get a lot clicks hyped-up.

I really think this is OSU or Bama. But man, I hope BK can get in home with our new OL coach. We always have a chance when BK gets a late in home as long as it's not in Fresno.

Same with Patterson.

LOL. Given the candidates that we had, do you really think any one of them would've been super impressive to Petit-Frere?

Quinn just needs to build the relationship and talk about how he gets the culture that Harry built better than anyone that they could've brought in externally and he's committed to maintaining that culture blah blah blah.

Petit-Frere and his Mom are very close. I know that Florida has some work to do, but if I'm a betting man, I think he stays home.

The reactions to the Quinn hire are pretty much EXACTLY the same as the reactions to the Heistand hire.

People can list a few reasons, and think they know what they are talking about, but they don't. It may be a bad hire, it may be an excellent hire.

But Kelly certainly knows more than we do in this case. If he wanted him, I'm fine with it. BVG has been the only terrible hire.

Dear NPF,

You're a talented but undersized player at the moment who needs size and development.

ND is the obviously your best choice as Coach Quinn turned a WR/TE into a first round draft pick, a 6x Pro Bowler and a HOF candidate, whose career earnings are at $62.5M and counting.

If that's not good enough, check out the Eagles Center during the Super Bowl, he was a walk on fullback who got thrown into the weight room, coached up to become an NFL draft pick, 2x Pro Bowler who'll have $40M in his checkbook at the end of his contract.

Could Harry? He of the 4 Following's on Twitter.

Anyone can recruit OL at ND. Same as ugly dudes in Ferrari's get laid.
Ha! I hear ya about Harry and recruiting. But he sure could coach. If Quinn can get 4-5 stars then his job is easier. I know...Captain Obvious.

Apparently Him and Quinn have had previous conversations. So Nicholas knows who he is.
(freebie)
247Sports and Irish Illustrated reported earlier this week that running backs coach Autry Denson was heading to Tampa, Fla., for an in-school and in-home visit with Berkeley Prep five-star offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere. With the hiring now official, we’re now told that Quinn will join Denson today in Florida, as they look to make a big push toward landing the 6-6, 272-pounder.

While this will be the first recruiting visit between Quinn and Petit-Frere in Florida, it won’t be the first time they met. The two spoke at length during Petit-Frere’s two trips to Notre Dame, so there is already familiarity between both sides at this point.
