This is obviously flying under the radar. ASB injured a finger (or fingers?) and missed MD's opening game against Bishop Amat.

The part that is interesting... he was injured at the Opening Finals.

Will he be ready this Friday when #4 Bishop Gorman comes to town to play the #2 Monarchs?

To me, we get ASB if this happens:

1) ESB has a big year
2) Wimbush has a big year
3) ND's offensive players have a ton of fun and love playing in the offense
4) Phil has a big year, and makes it clear that the QB situation is in excellent hands

Otherwise, he still seems like a USC kid to me.

Prediction: All the above will happen and he still ends up in California.

All I want to see is:

ND and USC both perfect come October.

1) EQ goes for 200+ with 4 TDs
2) Elko shuts USC out
3) We stomp the ketchup and mustard out from their demoralized souls
4) Profit

I don't even care if we get little brother or not, I'll take the above regardless.

In any case, keep in mind that a thorough waxing doesn't necessarily mean it would dissuade someone from going somewhere. We got beat by Syracuse at home during Manti's visit. Sometimes an embarrassing defeat just opens the door for a guy to see playing time and a place to shine.

I think ND is in it more than people think....I just have that feeling.

Of course recruiters are going to be in his ear not to go to ND to be in EQ's footsteps and I hope ND is recruiting the same pitch that he can come to ND and create his own path.

Michael Floyd committed to ND in 2007 after USC beat ND 38-0.

I still say Polian lands ASB to ND.

Five-Star Cali WR Locks In Visit No. 1

In one of the biggest non-league games for Mater Dei in recent memory, the Monarchs took on Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman over the weekend in a game matching up the nation's top two ranked teams.

Mater Dei ended the Gaels 55 game winning streak with a 35-21 win, despite playing without their standout receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. St. Brown suffered a hand injury at The Opening back in July and hasn't been able to play in the Monarchs first two games this season.

"I was really looking forward to this game," St. Brown said. "This was a huge game and I was kind of shocked when I heard that I would be out but I just tried to help my team the best I could on the sidelines and it was great to see go out and get the win."

St. Brown, Scout's top rated receiver nationally, recently set up his first official visit and has a handful of schools he said he is focusing on right now.

"I'm going to Notre Dame (Oct. 21) when they play USC," St. Brown said Friday night. "I'm looking forward to that one since it's two of my top teams. I don't know if I'll have time to take all five trips with our crazy schedule but hopefully I can lock in a few others.

"The schools recruiting me the hardest right now are UCLA, Stanford, USC, Michigan and Notre Dame. I'm going to the USC-Stanford game this weekend and I'm going to try and check out a UCLA game sometime as well. The plan is to make my decision at the Army All-American Game."

As for what he's looking for in a school, St. Brown has always been consistent in saying he's looking for a chance to play right away.

"I don't want any guarantees, I just want a fair chance to compete for playing time," St. Brown said. "Academics are big for me as well and a coaching staff that I feel is honest with me and one that I can trust."

As for how big a factor having his quarterback, JT Daniels, already committed to USC will be in his decision;

"It would be nice to play with JT," St. Brown said. "We've been playing together for a long time and have built pretty good chemistry but end of the day, it's my decision.

"I know he'll respect what I decide no matter what but his decision won't have that big of an affect on me. It could have a little bit of an impact but honestly, not that much. I have to do what is best for me and he understands that."

Considering BK felt the need to bring in two grad transfers at WR speaks volumes to the chances of Amon-Ra coming in and getting a chance to "compete for playing time".

Let's see...

Going to go to USC - ND
Going to USC - Stanford
Wants to get to a UCLA game,...hmmmm maybe...Nov 18 vs USC?

Most likely Stanford pushed him to attend the USC game because Stanford only sells out the few marquee games every year.

I hope JT Daniels is a pompous jerk and ARSB wants to get away from him.

I don't think that has anything to do with this situation, at all. We didn't have much in the way of established WR's, outside of ESB, so it was to provide more current competition in hopes of finding something that worked now. That decision was made a LONG time ago. For example, Kevin Austin is a better prospect than both grad transfer WR's, and it had no bearing on his recruitment. ASB has a spot regardless, and ASB will play as a freshman, if he wants to be at ND.

The $64K question.

The more i listen to him, the more i think he wants to be separate from Daniels. I think he wants to be the talked about person on the offense, not the QB. I know USC is the lean right now, but I am not counting out the good guys here. Keep getting ESB the ball. Interesting this is his first time really meeting the new staff.. Hope Chip, Polian, and Del are ready to roll that red carpet out and show how important he would be to the team.

FIFY

He's met Polian and Alexander before. 100% sure of that.

The payoff came when the Cardinal offered Equanimeous a full scholarship. “I was dancing,” she says with a big smile. When Osiris signed there in February, she practically did backflips. It now affords Amon-Ra, whom all of Rivals.com, Scout.com and 247Sports all rank either No. 1 or No. 2 at receiver, a measure of freedom in his own recruitment. “She has one son going to Stanford,” says Amon-Ra, who counts the Cardinal, Notre Dame, USC, UCLA and Michigan among his favorites. “So for me, she doesn’t really care where I go.

Could definitely see him going there.

I bet it's one of USC, Michigan, or Alabama. All three play young receivers quite a bit and all three look like they'll be pretty good for the foreseeable future and offer him the chance to blaze his own trail.

Obviously I want him at ND but I don't see it happening right now unless we play lights out the rest of the way and EQ's production is more like weeks 1 and 4 instead of 2 and 3. Also would help if our young receivers (Stepherson, Young) play a bigger role down the stretch. Stepherson's season last year and hopefully the rest of this year could be a good selling point on our willingness to play young receivers.
