I don't think this is "west coast" issue... we've had the "normal" mixed bag of success and failures with a lot of rare recruits from the PNW, Nevada, Arizona, etc. I don't want to waste a bunch of space in Patterson's thread here but the insane fail rate among California recruits has a lot to do with the fact that many are incredibly overrated because of the hype machine in LA for skill players, and that many have the wrong mindset.

It'd be an interesting study to look at all transfers in Division 1, grouped by rating and determine see if there is any geographical correlation to "premadonna syndrome".

I wonder if his offer was made because we knew HH was leaving, and with HH leaving we would not have NPF. Timeline adds up

Coming in Friday morning which is good news. I just don't see how they beat out Michigan or UCLA without having an OL coach. Unfortunately, I think it's too little too late, but hopefully I'm wrong.

Yea, if you have HH, you can probably make up for lost time with the NFL pedigree pitch, to some degree. Without an OL coach in place, makes it pretty difficult when the kid has already mentioned how comfortable he is with his other relationships.

unfortunately sounds like Drevno is staying at Michigan.

Another completely bizzare note: Patterson seems to be enamored with Drevno. He basically said if Drevno left that Michigan would fall down a peg or two. First recruit I've ever seen show Drevno that kind of love.

If the report we should hear something early next week on OL coach is true, they probably have found their guy, right?

Kelly can sell said coach during his in home and maybe even visit with him over the weekend.

I don't understand pushing up the visit with no OL coach. But I usually question ND and when they push kids to OV.

Maybe it's because we're 3rd and dropping in this race and we wanna make a move before it's too late.

Thx, HH!

We should have been all over this kid all season. No wonder we're running 3rd.

Good Freebie write up by Tim Prister.

I think he nails the position assignment. Needless to say, he's impressed.

https://247sports.com/college/notre-dame/Article/In-The-Film-RoomJarrett-Patterson-113960603

Excerpt:
Patterson’s senior film warranted a more distinguished group of suitors. If the Irish can land Patterson and not Petit-Frere, they’ll still have their left tackle. Patterson’s footwork as a senior was outstanding. Dirksen is a dynamic guard prospect with Jones at right tackle and Mabry a guard/tackle.

Still growing into his frame, Patterson shows top-shelf feet in pass protection, the ability to pull and run from his left tackle spot (he played right tackle as an underclassman at Mission Viejo), balance on the run, consistent knee bend, and a good use of his hands/arms while fighting to seal the edge as a run blocker.

He shows aggressive leg drive as a run blocker and is a well-trained football player coming out of the Mission Viejo program against predominately quality competition. As a sophomore right tackle, Patterson’s Diablos won the Division I-AA state championship.

ND has post-poned BK's in home that was supposed to be tonight, to "TBD", with it expected to wait until later in the week until BK can bring the new OL coach with him.

I think ND is a serious player here if he clicks with the OL coach. This is just a gut feeling so you guys can laugh when I turn out wrong (my source told me ND won't get him).

But he seemed to really like the visit, and BK is great on in homes. With his visit just ending, if BK can bring him an OL coach by say Friday, that's a power move.

I think we got a shot.

Have a great shot.

Catholic family and one of his assistants at MV is a diehard ND fan.

Plus being able to say, "If you commit, we'll shut it down & quit recruiting the #1 OT prospect in the country" is powerful magic.

Do you know if he's been told that? I haven't heard that.

Also - Warriner - UM's new coach/Gophers former coach... Doesn't look like Patterson had a Minnesota offer, so not sure how much of a head start UM's OL coach will have over ours.

Also, did one of the other threads say rumors of Warriner talking to NFL now?

Warriner may already be out at Michigan. Reports are he took the job with the Titans a day after he took the Michigan job.

Whoa - how is that even possible? I hope that happens.

Again, don't be dumb like me and get false hope, no sites are saying we lead, but I just got that good old fashion feeling, Harry.

And never underestimate how much less cold weather factors into the decision of a 300-pounder.

No, I didn't hear that but if they can say it if they choose. They same way I can tell my chicky, " If you wanna watch Netflix and chill tonight, I won't call Selma Hayek." Me & Selma = ND & NPF.

He was on staff with Vrabel at OSU when he left ND. That's how a lateral move today turns into a vertical move down the road. Him leaving ND earned him this gig.

Especially guys from out west. A huge # of these guys are either from back east or their families are. Going to the Midwest or Northeast is something many have been doing their whole lives.
