I want the kids that are going to work for it, and develop into the best.

So I want guys like Martin, Stanley, Martin, Watt, McGlinchey, etc.

Why? Notre Dame has seen him work out multiple times and still hasn't offered.

You're putting more value into 247 rankings than one of the best offensive line coaches in the county. It's the same group of analysts that stated Tony Jones Jr. might have been the best RB at last year's Opening, yet dropped him from a four-star to a three-star based off seeing him workout in shorts.

this.

OL recruiting is the biggest crap shoot in recruiting when it comes to the rankings. Trust the coaches. Especially one as good as Heistand.

And 247 is factoring in t-shirt and shorts camps like The Opening WAY too much in their rankings. I guess they didn't get the memo it's not real football. They are being prisoner of the moment.

And the other 30 powers who have offered him, yes.

I still would place my bets on our staff, and their evaluations for where they see him fit. Don't get me wrong he is a stud, but I am happy with where we are and where we are going on the OL.

8 commits...wow. Add in Sarrell and it's nine. Wonder if this is horrible or just what Stanford needs with their numbers. I just can't believe this low of a number this late in the game is a good thing.

...and one of those commits is on defense...S

They have all of their recruits visit late and therefore get many commits then. I'm also not sure that they have very high attrition.

they generally have a few drop out of the class towards the end of the cycle when admissions fails them

This needed a bumping with the new 247 rankings be released.

So hear me out...

Foster Sarell is going to Stanford unless Washington can pull the rabbit out of the hat. CHECK

<strike>Trey Smith is going to Ole Miss.</strike> NOPE

<strike>Notre Dame is going to Austin a beating UT handily.</strike> MORE NOPE

Walker Little just went to the Opening and balled out. 247 bumped him to #2 OA behind Sarell.

Walker's leaders are Stanford, Ole Miss and Texas.

Draw you own conclusions...

Remember... batting .333 puts you in Cooperstown. lol

Hard to believe they never got really involved but you can't really complain about this year's OL class. Especially if the next HC likes to play Maul Ball

Hard to stomach watching both of the top OT's in the country go to your biggest competitor when you combine on and off the field. But those guys are going to play immediately in Palo Alto. All they have to do is beat out Hall at LT. RT will be a gimme over Bright. Regardless, they both start day one. Stanford's OL roster is full of .85's and many have little experience except for Hall.

Still would have loved to had Little and Lugg as OT's. Would have been interesting to see what would have transpired if HH would have gone all in on Walker.

I'm happy to hear they could be starting day one...I'd rather them waste a year of eligibility in the beginning when they are still green than to have them save a year at the end when they could be a consensus 1st overall NFL pick.

I'm not saying he's overrated, but ND took a lonnnnnng look at him and didn't offer. Ohio State also didn't offer, but just about everyone else and their mother did. Every schools in Texas and both Oklahoma schools were after him, Michigan, Alabama, etc.

I think he's obviously an elite prospect, and I think he's a great fit for RT in a traditional pro style system. I'm not sure I understand him being the #1 prospect in the entire country. I guess we'll get to find out over the next three to four years how accurate that ranking was.

Good thing we recruited all of those 5 star DEs to challenge Stanford's OL haul.

I can't complain about this OL class, its great, but do we really think the guys we got are all better, or at least better fits for the system?

I can understand offering a kid that everyone else passes on because you see something they don't. I can't really see why you'd pass on a kid that everyone else likes, unless he was just obviously a bad fit for some reason. Humility sometimes dictates you admit you are missing something.

We also thought Zeke Elliot was a DB, and he's already arguably the best RB in the NFL as a rookie. I don't think a ND offer/no offer really says anything about the prospect.

Yeah, and Kelly started off his career here saying that he was not worried about losing Gio Bernard because of Cam Roberson!

Sometimes you are just wrong. My thing is admit you are wrong earlier, like after the kid gets 30 other offers from high P5 schools.

You're correct that they never, ever should've pushed the safety angle and that's one of the primary reasons a perceived huge lead in his recruitment immediately went *poof* in favor of Ohio State.

But another way of phrasing that recruitment is that ND was on him early with a handful of other schools while he was still underrated. And they worked him out, saw he was an elite athlete, and said he could play either S or RB. None of us really know how good he could've been in that role, so he's probably not a good indicator of the staff "missing" on an evaluation. They liked him a ton as an ATH and pushed hard for him to be one of the first commits in the class.

I don't think a ND offer/no offer really says anything about the prospect.

I wrote "I'm not saying he's overrated" and then listed every school that did offer him. So it sounds like we agree. The staff misses a LOT on evaluations, like just this year being late on Oliver Martin when he was a flat out superior prospect to many of the guys we were hard... and Sam Hubbard... and many others. Some of them are just painful, obvious misses.

With regards to Walker Little, I'm just not sure I see a #1 overall player. Top 50, sure. But I'm not sure he's even the best linemen... in fact, the industry composite says there are 3 offensive tackles better than him. And in terms of overall players... I think very few schools would trade guys like Najee Harris or Jaelan Phillips for Walker Little. Very, very few. So I don't really understand 247's ranking of him, but we'll know better in a few years. I don't even think he will be the best tackle on his team.

Do you die a little bit inside every time you write/read/hear that name?

Weird that Stanford lands Sarrell and Little and neither might not play LT

Next year you mean, right?

couple sites I read thinks Sarrell is better off at guard questioning his athleticism and maybe Little is better at RT? Who knows, maybe tomorrow I find a legit tinder date or maybe I'm wrong again about everything. Either way I'm gonna keep doing me and Stanford gonna keep doing what they do.

I'll see your Frank Winters and raise you a Fuzzy Thurston rookie card. Another Mighty Crusader was the Fuzz.

So Walker Little proved my man crush was not misplaced.

Due to injury, only played 9 games but started at LT from the 5th game on.

Really gives me hope that Josh Lugg is going to be a top tier OT. There was a lot of chatter from the Opening that Lugg was the second best OT there besides Little.

Stanford's OL is gonna be a beotch this year.

LT - Walker Little
LG - Nate Herbig / Foster Sarell
OC - Jesse Burkett
RG - Brandon Fanaika / Foster Sarell
RT - AT Hall / Devery Hamilton / Foster Sarell
