From Panda in the 2017 Master List:

Obinna Eze -Nashville (Tenn.) Davidson Academy four-star offensive tackle plans to be at Invasion to earn offer

“It would mean a lot,” said Eze of an Irish offer. “Notre Dame is one of those classy schools. Class, tradition and education."

6-8, 263-pounder picked up recent offers from Florida, Georgia, Ole Miss, Alabama, Tennessee and many others

in speaking w/ a source, he has expressed a TON of interest to ND staff, has already been on campus but before he became a legit prospect

Even if I don't know much about a player, if its a OL or DL and Alabama sent him an offer... It makes me want him!

news on 247 but not in the article from ND site.....left his sister and parents in Nigeria to pursue the American Dream...HASN'T PLAYED 1 DOWN of varsity due to transfer rules

"It has been one hell of a ride," Eze said. "I am grateful for it. I work hard. I am not afraid to say that I work hard because I know I do. I really do. I am being humble about it. I achieved a lot in a short period of time.

"Playing football for only one year. I am really grateful. It is all God that is doing it. He has put great people around me."

"I did not watch a single football game until eight months ago," Eze said.

"I am a people kind of person," Eze said. "I do not know how, but I think I am. So the first time I meet you - I listen to the first few sentences you have to say - because the first time I meet you tells me a lot about who you are. I can tell a lot about you. But for me, this has been crazy, because you feel like you are getting the hang of this school, then another school comes along. Then every time you do your homework on a school, there is always something good about them."

"The SEC is the most confusing conference of them all," Eze said. "Because there is not a big difference between one school and the next. There might be a few coaches or a few great players that make a difference, but it is hard to find a fit in the SEC. For me, recruiting has been harder for me with the SEC. Whenever I do my homework and look at schools, and I am not even talking about football, I am talking about getting to know people and looking up business schools, alumni networks, it is hard. I am just hoping, at the end of the day, that I make the right choice and find the right fit for me."

"My interest in Georgia is very high," Eze said. "I think the secret to committing to a school is feeling like a family. I think Georgia is high on family, based on the people I have told you about, who are already part of my family. So I have to see how much of a fit is for me personally because this is a personal journey. But Georgia is really high."

The dynamics with these kind of kids is so tricky, but if this were an American I would say he's ours.

If he is thinking in those terms, our presentation is going to impress big time.

Eze I believe is an Igbo last name and the Igbo in Nigeria are more than half Catholic. Thus being a Nigerian could actually help. While there are some Muslims in Nigeria, they are dominant in the North. (That said a number of Muslim kids, see Ryan Harris, have felt more comfortable at Notre Dame than in highly secularized environments.) Thus a Catholic environment could actually help more for a Nigerian than for an kid from the American south. Sorry if this is off topic, but I was reacting to the American part of your comment.

He is Catholic I'd guess. I saw Jesus mentioned on his Twitter feed.

Doesn't sound like Irish Invasion is fully locked in yet.

"I'll probably be up there, but I don't know yet. I'm trying to make it," Eze said.

That's what you'd think. But, in my experience, the African kids often have the same issues the Southern kids have but amplified. They are almost completely dependent on their hosts/handlers and have very little space or comfort for not following the path set out for them.

Basically, the kid could say, "I want to go to a school with an internationally renowned computer program near the ocean," and if his host family lived in Chicago and were MSU fans, he end up at Michigan State 99/100 times.

So he sounds like a fit, but I wouldn't hold my breath. It all depends on his situation.

Competing at the Rivals Five-Star Challenge.

After moving from Nigeria, the Nashville Davidson Academy prospect was forced to play junior varsity football last season because of Tennessee transfer rules. So the question remains whether Eze has tremendous amounts of untapped talent or if there are still serious issues about his development heading to his senior season. Eze is 6-foot-8 and 283 pounds so size is not a problem. One way or another, Eze will find out exactly where he stands at the Five-Star Challenge.

Told Rivals that he's 100% locked in for II and is coming with one of his coaches. Has had some good conversations w/Elston and thinks an offer is coming.

That kid's gonna put on 40lbs and be in the Pro Bowl 7 years from now. He's got basketball footwork for 6-8.

he's a physical specimen for sure, but t-shirt and short camps are a hell of a lot different than real football. has this kid even played any actual football? I think he's never played. didn't he just come here from Africa? Technique, football IQ, and playing low- you always hear coaches talk about it- pad level always wins out at OL. Give me a technician like that who knows what their doing over a specimen any day of the week.

I just have a feeling he won't turn out to be as good as all the sites are ranking him. You see it all the time. Guys that look the part in t-shirts and shorts at camps but don't really do anything once they get in pads in a real football game.

if Laremy Tunsil can be a star and still be a moron then there's hope for anyone. Any O-line coach worth his salt will say all recruits are clueless about technique anyways, they all need coaching up from scratch.

real world every day functional intelligence is not the same thing as football intelligence. Besides, Tunsil had been playing football since he was a little kid. In probably THE state for football- Florida. He used to go up against Timmy Jerningan- a 5* DL recruit who wound up being drafted in the 2nd round of an NFL draft- in practice every day for 3 years when he was in high school.

you're comparing apples to oranges.

You're disagreeing with me regarding something I didn't say. I don't think he'll be an NFL stud because he looks like an NFL guy. That's Alex Leatherwood, Walker Little, Austin Deculus, Trey Smith and Austin Sarell. I said what i said because he is athletically better equipped. His foot speed and coordination is better than anyone's I've seen. He is handling guys who are A listers and he's doing it with little history and not the proper strength package yet. Not all great OT's start off as highly ranked OT's. Joe Staley only played a couple of years of HS football and was a TE when CMU picked him up. He definitely had the athletic skill set and potential once weight was added as he later proved.
