Was "emotional" when he was offered early this week. Offer obviously means a lot and should be interesting to follow.

The RB a few years ago who had grade problems and ended up decommitting (ended up at Texas St or someplace like that). If I remember he didn't even have a thread when he committed.

Wow. Hadn't thought about that guy in a while. I need to go read his file. But if i remember he committed his Jr year. Didn't Hunter or Robinson announce it for him? I think he played 7v7 with them or something(?) Almost positive he ended up at UL when Petrino landed.

Actually, there's still a ton of PSU stuff on there.

But that offer tweet from Thee University of Notre Dame looks like a pallbearer fittinda grab PSU's casket.

Notre Dame evaluating former Syracuse commit

We are evaluating him but the biggest thing is it's almost an indication Mac is flying to us as PSU just offered now

So ND's looking at Josh Palmer again.

I like his Sr. film when he saw it. Had to share targets with a lot of guys and is lucky that Grimes got hurt in that respect. I'd rather see some 4.4 guys get the call but it wouldn't be the end of the world to have another 6-2 guy who went against the best in practice and on Fridays.

FWIW, he reminds me a little of Fuller. Similar frame, and fast. Things to work on as a wideout but you can't teach that speed. Also, I genuinely want players that want to be at ND. I think that is the best way to get out of this. JMO.

It's definitely ideal as they are less likely to flake and therefore eliminate depth holes.

Give me Mac and Oliver and call it a wrap at WR

While I agree, as I'd take it and be happy. I really like Michael Smith. Without trying to over evaluate film, he's insanely productive and that is a trait I like. I'll always give a bump, to a player that is that productive. Khalid Kareem is a good example of that.

If you are that productive, there has to be a reason for it. How does that project, I don't know, that is the question. But I like seeing that.

Let's get him. We take who we want from Ped St. They're a second rate program.

You know what's crazy about recruiting is that to some prospects, this is entirely true. Coming off of a season where we flopped, there are legit players that want to be at ND. Let's recruit those kids

This kid tore it up at Invasion and if were not looking so good at that time with many higher ranked prospects he would have gotten an offer. I.E. things were look good for Black, OSB, Pouncey had committed.

I think this kid could be a player!

Freebie from Loy/247. Penn State commit Mac Hippenhammer offered by Notre Dame

Fort Wayne (Ind.) Snider three-star wide receiver Mac Hippenhammer tells Irish247 that Notre Dame has extended an offer.

The 6-1, 170-pounder from the class of 2017 adds the Irish to an offer list that includes Penn State, the school he is currently committed to, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan State, Wake Forest and others.

"It's a blessing," said Hippenhammer. "Being a wideout from Indiana, where no one really respects you, to get an offer from the biggest stage, it's a blessing."

Hippenhammer has been committed to Penn State since Aug. 13, but it looks like the Irish have at least entered the mix for the in-state talent.

The local talent is contemplating two official visits before completely shutting down his recruitment. He will be at Penn State on Jan. 20 and then potentially be at Notre Dame on Jan. 27. However, the Notre Dame trip isn't 100-percent locked in yet.

That said, Hippenhammer will visit Notre Dame on Monday for an unofficial visit and get a chance to talk with the coaching staff in person.

To be clear, Hippenhammer remains committed to the Nittany Lions, but admits that he just wants to check out both options before National Signing Day in February. Per a source close to Hippenhammer, Notre Dame is intriguing, but so is Penn State. His relationship with wide receivers coach Josh Gattis is second to none and the Lions assistant coach has put in a ton of effort in keeping him on board throughout his recruitment.

Hippenhammer is in no way a lock to flip to the Fighting Irish. That will depend on Notre Dame picking up its recruiting efforts of him and beating out a Penn State staff that has made him a top priority for months. This will be a recruitment to pay close attention to.

Met with BK, Chip Long, and Elston, only considering Penn State and ND moving forward. Will take his official to Penn State this weekend, and is still deciding about an official to ND the last weekend of the month. He got a lot of "good information," and called it a "productive day."
