Can't complain that the Irish aren't going after the top talent at ILB. They have offered 4 of the top 6 247 Comp ILB's and if Ignont gets an offer, that will make 5. He's at IMG so he's been on the radar and has been in contact with the staff but it sounds like it might be time for the offer per Anna H @ Scout.

He's originally from Alabama and the CB's are for Auburn and Bama.

Received an invitation to the Opening today.

is IMG permitted to compete for state championships or are they kind of like a Findlay Prep in terms of football?

I guess i'm not familiar with the whole "can't compete for state championships."

Does this mean that they are just too good to compete for the championship and that it is unfair to the other schools?

So they just play whatever schedule they want or are they in a league?

they schedule schools from around the country as many FL HS's won't schedule them as they believe they will try and entice their players away.

they have no conference membership in FL HS football so they just play whoever they want. Generally alot of natinal programs though like Bergen Catholic etc, be fun to see them play Bishop Gorman one day.

When you nationally recruit, it's not fair to the other programs. As you saw on Sunday, 7 invites were handed out to The Opening and 6 of them were from IMG lol. You can actually make that 8 guys from IMG if you count Kellen Mond being invited to the Elite 11, which means they play QB at The Opening. Just absurd.

agreed.

and as a competitor I can't fathom not having a chance to play for a state championship.

yes I never had a chance to play big time football or basketball for that matter like an Oak Hill or Findlay prep, but the fact that they can't play for state titles would be the deal breaker for me no doubt.

yeah its probably one of the main reasons kids turn them down. Nate Craig-Myers for example cited this.

running #7 for him--scout

I appreciate all the updates you bring Panda but I believe this is incorrect. The update I saw was worded, "Notre Dame is in the running for No. 7 ILB Will Ignont". Meaning he is rated as the 7th best ILB on Scout.

The full update said that Auburn was running #1 and then a few other schools are in the mix, including ND, Ole Miss, and UCLA. Made it sound as if Auburn was far and away #1 but had good things to say about ND.

Are you saying that we have offered but there are six teams on his list that he likes better than us?

I think your math is off, 4 hours and 40 minutes of class and he said tutors are there to help throughout the day. I am not positive but I think it is the same schedule for classes as college. You don't have the same class everyday. If he has 3 different classes everyday, that seems like lengthy classes for 3 classes per day. Thats about 1.5 hours per class. Not saying IMG is winning any academic awards, but I would say these high profile recruits that go there are more acclimated to the collegiate athlete day, then your local high school kid.

Sounds a lot like a Block Schedule, or modified version of it. And when you think about it, almost 5 hours of class is about what a "normal" school does when you factor in lunch and any study halls as well.

Strange, usually they post the top 10 with no order. Looks like we've got a lot of ground to cover
