ISD posted an article yesterday about this kid. Apparently Cooks contacted him and Jalen had this to say about their conversation:

Coach Cooks let me know that the staff was thinking about me and that I was at the top of the board.

Who knows if Cooks meant the very top of the board or, you know... toward the top. Anyway, he also competes in powerlifting, which his dad coaches. Might be a name to watch in the coming months.

ND kid. Cannon for an arm. Kind of reminds me a Golson. Makes plays with ease at the high school level and goes deep with a good completion %. Built to run a little more than Golson.

His footwork needs work, but nothing that won't improve in college. Definitely a leader and someone the team can get behind.

Kid wont be hard to convince to leave Texas if ND wants him. If offered, I think there would be a great chance to the Irish to get him.

I can definitely live with this, given he's a legit 6'2"

Nothing against Jalen, but are we out of the race for the first level of prospects? Henry is gone but I thought there were 2-3 others that were strongly considering us? Francois?

Gimme Patterson or gimme death!!! But seriously, I'm not 1000% certain we're entirely out of it for Henry. I have a feeling FSU is gonna fall back down to earth this year, hard, now that their bubble has been burst and their choir boy has declared. If ND can put together a 10+ win season, don't be surprised to see a couple names pop back up.

Why does Jalen Hurt? Maybe he should put some ice on it and rest.

Francois? The '15 QB prospect?

Are you confusing him with Haskins?

This kid or haskin jr. as the QB for this class would be fantastic.

If we're taking 2 QBs I wouldn't mind seeing this kid be one of them, but I'm all in on KJ Costello.

Edit: obviously I know we are not taking 2 QB's...just didnt want to discount this kid's ability. Costello though...good lord.

Good call, maybe it was Patterson I was thinking of.

Good catch. I've stopped keeping up with it as closely, some of the other options seemed to be rated much higher.

According to a February 17 TiderInsider.com (Premium) article, he was offered by Alabama in recent weeks.

Texas 2016 QB with Tide offer plans to visit
Rising senior quarterback Jalen Hurts of Channelview, Texas picked up an offer last week from Alabama. The 6-2, 203-pound Hurts also has offers from Houston, Mississippi State, SMU, Purdue, UNLV and UTEP.

Scout and Rivals both list him with the Bama offer as well. He has received recent bumps from 247 and Rivals. Once ESPN gets around to grading him, I assume he will be a consensus four star.

He has to get a look tonight, right? Can't be any worse than Wentz at this point in the game.

I remember when the East Coast pundits were laughing at the idea of Dak Prescott, a 4th rounder being as good as Wentz, 2nd overall.

I think it's become apparent who is better.

1-6 lol..

Not sure they'd kick the tires this early, but I wouldn't mind seeing him. Might provide a spark.

I thought I saw that he was taking a decent amount of reps with the 1's this week. I am just salty on Fantasy, as he does have a few weapons that he could use (I don't have any Eagles, but the enemy of my enemy does, lol).

Wentz the bed living up to his name lol.

Are there actually people that think Hurts is a better option at QB than C Dubs?

He has been awful this year. The team has had injuries, but he has looked nothing like his old self. His contract is such that he isn't going anywhere, but you have to at least try and win the game considering the division. Why not try Hurts at this point?

A lot of people in philly are pushing for Hurts. Personally I’m not ready to give up on Wentz just yet. It wild how bad the Eagles management has absolutely failed to provide him with receivers. The recovers we drafted have all been historic bust and the ones we passed on are studs. The O-line has been nothing more than a ragtag bunch this year as well, and the eagles lead the league with 40 sacks allowed already.

I’m personally torn on trying to win this pathetic division, or secure a high draft pick. But GM Howie Rosemen has a bad draft record so it might not be much of a choice.

No Quarterback has been gifted with more help than Dak. The receivers, offensive line and running game have all helped portray the notion that he is a quality QB.

Yeah I'm pretty sure any decent QB could look pretty good in Dallas the past few years. Must be nice to have those guys.

Then why has every other QB inserted into the lineup failed so spectacularly whenever he gets hurt? Even starters from other teams like Weeden and Dalton.

Because their elite Oline is now gone and their running game has collapsed.

Dak has been hurt in other years. Philly actually won a superbowl without Wentz. That team isn't devoid of talent.

You actually think Wentz is better? He's getting cut or traded for a can of pringles soon. He's trash.
