Not sure I understand the logic here, honestly. Just because he can play on a D1 level and his brother plays here, we should offer him? His brother was a blue chip player, at a position of need, and the light is just coming on late in his career. There is risk here with Jamir with that even before we get to the fact that we will have a small class and can hopefully get a more talented player at his position.
Also... I highly doubt that Jarron would suddenly quit playing hard just because we didn't give his brother a scholarship. If he did, then he is playing for the wrong reason. College football isn't a charity and giving scholarships to any sibling of a player isn't "taking care of our own".
I'm not saying that I wouldn't be happy to have him if the staff worked him out and thought he could contribute to the team and make them better. But the staff isn't doing Jamir any favors if he isn't a fit. Hell, he may not like the school's atmosphere, difficult academics or maybe becoming a starter early is important to him. He shouldn't want to come to Notre Dame just because Jarron is here either, he should want to come to Notre Dame because he wants to be challenged, work hard and become a difference maker on an elite football team. If he thinks that he could achieve that better somewhere else, then he should do that. It has to be a mutual fit or it can end up being a mutual disservice.
