What is the connection to ND?

None yet. Hopefully with Sanford aboard and a full compliment of coaches on the road ND will be a playeron kids like Shurod. California is loaded in 2016 with one of ND's big needs, safety. The good news is SC has had two monster hauls and their time to field is getting long. This will be a good year to get some of this talent. Other programs know it too. I just read a PAC-12 coach talking about that fact last night.


*** And that coach loves Thompson, which is why I put this profile up along with his name came up in Loy's presentation in LA this week.

2 four star safetys decommitting from Cal in same month, that's gotta hurt. They had backup QB's playing in their defensive backfield during the spring thats how shallow their depth is!

From one of the main posters on Cal's board:

"Thompson had been highly-interested in Cal for years and when he talked about committing on junior day in April, it was clearly laid out for him what he'd have to do to end up at Cal. He accepted the challenge that day but subsequently did nothing to live up to it. In fact, the contrary. It's not just academics, either.

Regardless of any potential commitments in the future, I HIGHLY doubt he plays D1 football in 2016 when it all shakes out. Hopefully for his sake, he'll wake up and get his act together or he'll be a cautionary tale of wasted talent."

Anyone know if there is any truth to this or if this is just an excuse for losing a recruit?

I agree with this and that is why I am hoping it is not true and just some butthurt fans. Don't want to hope for a zero possibility.

lol Cal might as well be Oakland Tech when it comes to football players academics, if he can't get in there then you'd have to worry about him qualifying
