Guys he can’t hit an uncovered WR on a drag. He’s just not that good at football.

I thought that he came close to setting a NJ HS record for completion %. I know he was throwing the ball to Fitzpatrick but still...something is going on.

His HS highlight film looked good. Good enough to earn a scholarship. Now he’s in college and he’s got the yips.

Don't lie to yourself dude. We were about to go up by two scores, with the next play being a Prosise TD run to put us up 26-14. Yeah we were slow out the gate but don't just lie here

Huh? He couldn't move (pass) the ball. Are you serious? I'll give you your highlight reel. Watch and remember the game as It was played and you would never feel the same.

I think these migraines are a big deal and will continue to haunt him. I have a family member who is afflicted with them...it's horrible. I'm praying for him.

Yea great excuse from a coach.

Looking at recruiting rankings and what a guy did in HS is great, we all like to get excited about potential, but you can’t ignore what you’re seeing on the field and what you see on the field is a guy who can’t consistently hit an uncovered WR on a drag. He can’t make the easy throw.

Hope he gets it figured out and DOESN'T go to George Winfield for coaching. I feel like George is just the product of ESPN promotion and he has royally screwed up all our QBs who have gone to him.

He needs to go to a Peyton Manning type QB coach. And maybe a shrink. I think he could turn it around if he gets the right help. If not, he'd make a great Slot/RB. Hope he doesn't bolt.

We need to stop worrying about QB competition because of what happened to Kizer/Zaire. Remember one of those just went 0-16 in the NFL and the other couldn't start over to other shitty QBs at Florida. Maybe they just weren't that good.

I say bring on PJ vs Book, move Wimbush to slot.

Zaire was terrible and in no way an ND QB starter! He would have lost the Virginia game in which he got hurt.

This is 100% false.

Notre Dame vs. Virginia - Play-By-Play - September 12, 2015 - ESPN

This.

Id be interested in what NDCrusader thinks about PJ being able to come in and challenge Book or Wimbush for the starting position. I appears to me PJ has all he tools to come in a play as a freshmen. I agree a competition is in order and I think Wimbush needs serious strides in decision making and mechanics/accuracy. Book has some limitations as well but he seems to have that IT factor.

As others have noted, Phil's not an EE so that hurts his chances. If I'm running this squad next year, I'd hand the team over to Phil at the Pitt game. Phil's the franchise and they need to ride that horse. Get ready for 2019 & 2020.

PD, lolololol
That will be the biggest topic until the next starter is announced by BK.... no chance in hell people stop speculating.

In all seriousness, had we had just a solid QB, things could have been very interesting for the Irish this year. It (2017) truly was all about the QB in terms of how far we could go...

Let me articulate my point better. I meant to say don't shy away from a QB competition because we are afraid of a the dynamic that happened with DK and MZ.

I agree with that 1000%
Open it up, and let the best man play. And if PJ is a little raw, I'm OK with Freshman mistakes. If it's Book or Avery, I'm OK with that too. If BW gets help from a QB whisperer, I'm down with that too. I think I said it earlier in one of threads today, BK should declare open competition immediately.

Zaire is fair.

Deshones record has very, very little to do with him.

It's a given that it's open season...no real need to declare it.

I don't think it's a given. Even if people think it's a given, might as well say it anyone. That way nobody (I'm not saying BW would) can say, but I was the starter.... and guys like AD and PJ know it's anyone's team to lead.

Wimbush is the second coming of Andrew Hendrix. Running QBs with inaapccurate arms and under 50% completions.

Very little? He was a 54% passer with twice 11/22 TD to INT ratios. Definitely not all on him, but he sure didn't help much. Plus he went 4-8 the year prior. Maybe it's a pattern...

think about whifield is that he does not work on kid's mechanics/throwing motion. kids who have these issues aren't fixed by him (look at Zaire with his Tebow throw). All he does is try teach decision making/reading defenses..

Bingo............He is not trusting his reads and hesitates. His mechanics need some work no doubt, but I believe a lot of that is due to him holding the ball too long then throwing at the last minute.

Yesterday in the gameday thread every one was going nuts on Chip Long as the worst OC ever in the history of everything anywhere.

Once Book took over that talk pretty much stopped on a dime.

I have somewhat defended Long all season when it comes to play calling. IMO the failure in play calling lays more on BW's inability to execute than the actual play calling.

Case in point, with 40 seconds left in the first quarter, 3rd and 15...Long calls a RO run to the right, which was overloaded. At the hand off the defensive crashes down leaving the entire left side of the open open for BW to take off for what could have been a 30-40 yd gain.

What does he do, he completes the hand off to adams who is immediately hit by 3 defenders and a 4 yd loss.

Watch the play. BW has zero business being a P5 QB.
