Prince just graduated.

Ya, but he wasn't a real prince like:

Can we get a judge's ruling?

Ok, I guess that counts. We're on our way to a monarchy.

Knowing someone close to him, Stanford is definitely the team to beat. We'll see what happens though.

Is about "85" percent locked in for his Stanford OV. Elliot just has to get back to him with final travel arrangements. It's his bye week so there shouldn't be any scheduling conflict on his end.

247C: :s::s::s::s: #14 CB #121 OVR (.9442 Rating)

For comparison, Reid's 247C is .9483, but Buncom is three inches taller and can play safety. They're both studs and I'd love to see them both in Irish jerseys, but Buncom is probably the better prospect for Notre Dame's needs.

How does Ykili Ross play into DB recruiting?

In terms of position he's a CB prospect at the moment but one reason they like him so much is his versatility. He's a take no matter what. These new offers don't have anything to do with his spot or position currently.

Ross = CB

Buncom = Safety
Right but you're saying they'll take Ross for CB but not Reid? Is Ross coming as an ATH or is he just that much higher on ND's board and worth the overloading at DB? ..or both?

Ross is the best film I've seen of any player, any position IMO. I'd take him over St. Brown at WR if he wanted to play that. I think he's a freak.

Take 'em both. Let the coaches sort them out later!

What about Marshall? (As far as the best film.)

And do we still have a shot with him?

I think the secondary needs to be overloaded this class. I know the staff already planned to, but I think they should consider taking on even more (ie. Reid, Buncom if he wants, and Ross if he wants). There will be too many losses and potential losses that could cause some depth issues next year. If Hardy and Russell happen to not return, Baratti injury, Riggs gone, Shumate will be a Sr. next year...Atkinson, Farley, Brown, Collinsworth will be gone. That's a lot of bodies off the roster.

I see Farley returning next year.

Even so.

I'm stuck on this negative thought process that something bad comes of this investigation and ND somehow loses Hardy and Russell, among others (either by expelling them and they transfer or Russell just jumps to the NFL). They also lose Riggs who's been a major spark plug for that defense imo. So worst case scenario they return Luke, Redfield, and Shumate. Good foundation, but I'm praying Russell returns because he's that true lockdown corner.

Perhaps I'm wrong in my theory, but I've always felt that the secondary is one of the hardest positions to be consistently successful. It seems like so many top athletes get recruited to play those positions, but very few live up to the hype. Very few become lockdown corners or elite safeties. Again, maybe I'm wrong, but I just feel like you need to overload this group to better your chances of someone breaking out.

It's a hard transition from HS to college where poor technique can negate athletic ability. Outside of OL, I cannot think of another position where that seems to be the case.

I agree with you. But, you left out Butler who is a good player and Watkins impressed during fall practice.

Just to give a little more color on Frank's recruitment. We are getting his only in season OV. He's focused on academics and football so he is only scheduling 1 visit (his bye week) during the season and thats to ND. His top 5 is Stanford, Oklahoma, Duke, Vanderbilt, and UCLA. Obviously ND has been put in that group and it seems near the top. As of now he'll visit Stanford in January.

Scout: Basically says the same things as mentioned above but I'll add to it. He is not worried about offers he doesn't have, he focuses on the ones he does have. If a school wants to offer him a free education, he will consider them. Admits he likes Stanford a lot but has not seen other schools and will do so with an open mind to find the best fit. He takes AP courses and skipped the USC camp to take the ACT and attend a leadership camp.

One (or even two) of these is/are not like the others...

I thought UCLA was a decent school for academics for athletes. I may be wrong though.

UCLA is a solid school, but I would not put it on the level of Duke, Vandy, Stanford, and ND. I would agree that it is closer to ND then to OU in terms of quality.

I think UCLA is up there in terms of slectivity, resources, quality of student, etc. It's MUCH closer to ND than OK, IMO.

Better he visit us during the season and Stanford in January if you know what I mean.

Two things are pretty clear to me here.

1. Stanford has a good lead at the moment.
2. We are being made a priority.
