Bailey is a slot receiver will not be on the outside. It will come down to who he has a commitable offer from in the south where I think he would like to stay. I would think Michigan is in front of ND in the north.

+1. I am starting to think this guy is alright.

In other news, his high school had to vacate their state title from this past season as it was found that some kids were falsifying their addresses so they could go to Armwood.

And those kids are currently committed to either Bama or UNC.

Think we can update his front page a little bit to show his current rankings, etc?

With his elite speed, he would be a nice slot compliment to our current outside WR commits.

4.7 is not even good, much less elite

Our coaches asked him to come and run the 40 and if he ran a good time he would get a scholarship he refused so far. There is always a chance he could show up to our last camp FNL. The crazy thing is he was the best player on the best high school team in the nation last year. His coach says he is the best player in Florida.

Big time just to get him on campus in my opinion. Our staff works their butts off.

Great to hear. We need at least one more WR in this class. I'd take two since Robinson might grow into a TE or a college basketaball player, and I think Onwulu is an athlete that could even play defense.

I would bet that alot of the supposed 4.55 guys are closer to 4.7 than 4.5

It has been discussed numerous times about how there are hundreds of high school kids running 4.4s when the nfl combine has only a handful of 4.4s...

I'm sure AB has the speed necessary to play at a high level.

Jerry Rice was 6'2 200+

Bailey is 5'10 175

Alvin is a great player, consensus 4:s:, but speed is an area to improve

Yes with a college career and a college strength program under his belt.

You qualified 4.7 as not even good, i.e. Bailey speed is not even good. Which is a vague over exaggeration against his skills especially considering his film. From what I see, given my experience with the position and evaluating talent at the position, he is/was a young kid who, despite his fluid body control, had yet to develop any real power in his running. Many high school players seemingly develop over night as their bodies are ever changing.

For example, I was a consistent 4.8 40 guy in high school until about a month before the end of my junior football season, then all of a sudden I was mid 4.6 to high 4.6s. All hand timed. 4.7 is not as bad as you make it out to be. This is the problem with looking at stats and making assumptions.

The 40 time is a bad way to evaluate. Made popular by the NFL combine as a way to promote their cattle herding.

If he is faster than 4.7, great, but it's hard for me to just assume he is faster because guys w/ 4.4s are sometimes slower.

Bailey is not the fastest kid on the block but he is better at other things.

The original prompt to this debate was he has elite speed, I say he doesn't

Just because I don't think he is the fastest doesn't mean I don't think he has "skills"

Assuming I think he doesn't have "skills" because I am not a fan of his reported 40 seems like the over exaggeration.

He probably is faster than 4.7 but let's wait and see

Alvin Bailey is fast. He plays on possibly the best hs team in the country and plays in Florida. He is a very productive player. He does not run a 4.7. Many fast players have been electronically timed at Under Armour events that ESPN uses for their player profiles and have had poor times. For example, Khalfani Muhammed ran a 4.56 and is the 100 meter champion of California. Also, CJ Prosise was timed in the 4.7's as well but was a track star in Virginia. Bailey may not have elite speed but he's not slow either.

I am not saying that he is faster than a 4.7, I am saying that the majority of guys with times on their profiles of ~4.5 are not actually 4.5 guys.

It is like a 6'8 Center being listed at 6'10-6'11...
