Same officer involved with the Devin Butler incident now part of a controversial shooting involving a black man in South Bend. This incident is making national news now because of Mayor Pete’s candidacy and the protests from the black community in South Bend.

Wasn’t the cop who “fought” Devin, Aaron Knepper? The shooting was officer Ryan O’Neill.

There were multiple officers involved, including Aaron Knepper. Knepper and O'Neill were the ones responding to the call and conspicuously didn't turn their bodys cams/dash cams on. O'Neill is alleged to have pulled the trigger.

Interesting, I have not seen any reports tying him to this incident. Definitely does not look good for the SB Police Department

I was reading a Politico article on it yesterday and it talked about him, I’ll see if I can find a link. It went into his history, including the 7-11 incident, and I was like “oh shit is this the same guy from Devin Butler’s arrest?” And Google said it was.

Every holster should have bluetooth installed to activate bodycams as soon as the gun leaves it. Once activated an officer should not be able to turn the cam off, it should only be able to be turned off by a CO.

I would love to see it where the bodycam is activated as soon as they step out of the car. That way all activity leading up to any incident is taped and not just at the time of a shooting. The technology available today should be able to have something like that happen.

I agree. I was going to say you could also link it to a siren or vehice door. Easy to set any # of initiation parameters.

I thought I read somewhere in an article that it is linked to the lights/sirens of the car, but they didn't turn the lights on since they were searching for the man, and not actively pursuing him.
