1. ND has 3 sites alone that would call him (ISD/Rivals/247) and a 4th if you count scout..but irisheyes is pretty much dead. Add in usc/bama/ucla/washington...thats 7 phone calls at minimum if he tweets/says anything recruiting related. Not to mention ESPN recruiting, local papers, etc. So its at LEAST 10-15 calls from media alone. Next you have the lead guys for each site calling for his region calling. Farrell texting him to not go to ND. THen you deal with each school calling. Thats a MIN of 5 calls. You subtract media...you have to deal with the schools and two weeks from signing day, its a move to get your mind right.

2. I dont think you can take anything from him shutting out the media via a twitter message. I think he knows where he needs to be from what I have heard, but at the sametime its not from Eddie V himself.

3. ND is right where they want him, everything checked out personally/academically/athletically. He is still visiting and didnt cancel or have some obligation come up. So right there in itself is all ND is looking for...and that is a chance to sell ND to him for 2 days. Jaylon coming up isnt a concidence. No offense but I bet Jaylon isnt up there next weekend.

Good post, except the bolded line seems inconsistent with the rest of your point. Can you explain? Thanks.

Why can't he be? Wonder how much a guy like Jaylon can influence a potential recruit? Please don't attack, just wondering. I would have to guess every school he visits has their top guys there. I guess I was different back in high school, others wouldn't have influenced me, it would have been the school and coaches.

Probably because the bus will be full after this weekend and no need to come back the last weekend

Jaylon has already proven to be a tremendous "recruiter" for ND. He is the perfect balance between recruiter/peer, and is able to sell the idea of "IrishMob13." Obviously I haven't been there, but you can see how infectious he is when you see the way other recruits talk about things on Twitter.

Of course, the school itself and the coaching staff are the biggest factors, but having a soon-to-be superstar in attendance for another soon-to-be superstar's visit will show EV how important he could be to the class.

I don't know it's a guy like Jaylon per se. I think it helps when recruits have a connection to the team (future class). You see lots of this happening at the all star games and on recruiting trips. It might no be Jaylon in particular that sways a recruit but contributing to a feeling of family/team has the potential to improve the perception or feeling of the school in general to a recruit.

I know when I was taking my recruiting trips coming out of high school it helped a lot when I connected with current players and other recruits. On the other side of the coin I all but eliminated a school because I didn't feel comfortable with the other guys coming in and a few guys on the roster at the time.

Jaylon may not make or break a visit but having a guy passionate that's not enrolled yet has to help.

Steve Elmer and Malik Zaire will be there. Both were founding members of the "IrishMob13". Correct me if there are other early enrolees that are part of that. Those two have been big recruiters also.

There were 5 EEs that he will have a chance to talk to, Elmer, Zaire, Heuerman, Onwualu and Robinson.

lol..

All I was saying Vanderdoes is the icing to the cake. Prevot and whoever they may have coming in next weekend arent on that level. By no offense..i was referring to Prevot/whoever else is coming. They are damn good players and people if ND is recruiting them this late, but to say that they would have the impact of EV wouldnt be fair to EV. Granted non of these kids have played down of football, but EV fills a need. Prevot/Hollins are guys that are most likely a year or two away from playing at a min. They compliment the defense and add pieces to the puzzle. You recruit kids like Matuska/Prevot/Hollins/Deeb/ to compliment Jaylon/Randolph/Redfield/EV. Example...Hollins compliments Jaylon on 3rd down bc you can have both coming off the edge bc Hollins is a pass rush guy. He isnt going to make the plays EV will on 1st/2nd down. This is what building a dynasty is about. 2012 ND had a damn good team, but to be honest, they didnt have complimenting pieces. The same guys were out there 1st down or 3rd and long. Getting guys like Hollins and Prevot are HUGE bc you can take a Tuitt/KAP/Hounshell/Day etc off the field. Say ND forces 10-15 3rd downs a game..thats 10-15 plays Tuitt/Day/KAP/Hounshell are fresher for. multiply that by 12 games...thats 120 plays LESS those guys have to play. Come usc for the last game of the year for the title thats huge believe it or not.

So yes Prevot/Hollins/etc are important, but at the sametime if you get EV...then that allows you a potential 1st day pick along the lines.EV fills a need of getting a guy that can play multiple positions at a high level. He can play inside or outside and play power or the speed game.

If ND can pull EV and 1 of Hollins/Prevot then they got the puzzle almost complete. You wont have guys continually staying in the game from start to end. Thats where Bama/LSU are so strong is they are able to sub for situation. ND couldnt this year. Was that a deciding factor in the title game? No. But I think we all saw ND scrap through wins vs Pitt/BYU/Purdue bc of a lack of fresh bodies.

EV is heads above any other recruit we are still after. He already has the size and strength to make a significant contribution as a freshman.
