Can't remember the name, but there was another Washington Panther alum who played with the Cowboys in mid 80's...a DB as I recall.

Ron Fellows. Fate Echols was a top 5 pick back in the day. There were a TON of old time <strike>Pollocks</strike> Polacks that played in the league from SBW. Up until the 70's, SBW was one of the top all time programs in Indiana.

... oh and Skylar went there too.

Nah that can't be right. Just read through the comments on his thread and you'll see that he was an untalented, no good bum who wouldn't have played at ND.

I had to go back and check my hot takes to see if I was on the correct side of history.

Dieter is not a slot guy, so I don't know how Treggs and Thomas apply to his situation.

We have to offer this guy. He is the next Shark... local prospect who flies under the radar and ends up being a big time contributor. Sign him up now and then push for a slot guy to complete our WR class.

Not too bad, albeit with a little hyperbole. The trip down memory lane really brought back the trauma of how #BangBangNotreDameGang ended in 2012 too. That recruiting in '11 and '12 was the wild west relative to the processes Kelly & Co. have in place now.

I also forgot how Dieter ended up shit talking Notre Dame for months after not getting an offer. What a weird turn this whole thing took.

Academically, he would've fit in just fine at ND. He just let all of his high school success get to his head and became a very flamboyant, cocky individual. He really wanted Auburn and Oregon offers.

Now, after he graduated high school and got a taste of college ball, I think he realized he wasn't the best in football history and his ego came back down to earth.

All in all, I couldn't be more happy for him. Besides Skylar Diggins, I think he's the only Washington High School alum to play a professional sport. It is super cool to see him play with the hottest QB in the NFL and play for a Super Bowl contender.

Looking back when I was at Washington in 2012, Gehrig and David Perkins basically carried the team to state where they ran into the Indy Cathedral buzz saw. David was so athletic and had all the big time offers, but he just hung out with the wrong crowd. If I had to guess o who would've gone pro between the two, I would've bet on Perkins. Perkins got picked up by Seahawks but fizzled out.

Didn't Jaqueline Batteast come out of Washington? She played a bit in the WBNA.

To KC practice squad, which he started on last year and then was activated in the regular season.

I was not aware of this rule but if I am understanding it correctly, the Chiefs made a decision best for the player not the team? Good for them if so.

He doesn't need a spot on the roster. He's KC's Kato Kaelin. He's living in Mahommes' pool cabana.

WHAT IS AN INJURY SETTLEMENT?

I believe the process would have been that Dieter was first included onto the 53 man roster, then was designated as one of the two players a team can put on Injury Reserve list until the injury settlement could be negotiated with him and his agent. (Players who have not recovered from a football injury suffered during the current season cannot be cut.) The Chiefs now have one on the IR list and can now add another as the season goes on, if need be.

It's been almost 25 years. That reference is going to go over a lot of people's heads.

Maybe both. By doing what they did, it opens cap space. If they had kept him on IR his salary counts against the cap.

Just curious... why does he continue to be bumped? Is it a South Bend product thing?

After being released by KC with an injury settlement on Sept 10th, Dieter was later signed to KC practice squad on Oct 15. He was promoted to the Chiefs' roster from the practice squad on Nov 18. Waived by KC yesterday.

But Kato is an American treasure...

... who got his start as Green Hornet's masked chauffeur/bodyguard/enforcer. Bruce Lee's movie career took off after he played Kato on TV in the 60's.
