'11 NY OLB Ishaq Williams (Signed ND LOI-EE)

I probably wouldn't be asking this if it wasn't for the recent developments with Tuitt, but since Lynch and Ishaq are EEs, is that the same as them signing?

Have they gone past the verbal stage and are now committed?

With the loss of Tuitt ( which hurts me still ), does this give any chance to ishaq adding a few pounds, which I'm sure he will, and playing his highschool position of DE, giving us two super quick DEs??? Or is he still projecting as a LB all the way?

There is about 0 chance of that. He is 100% best suited for the pass rushing OLB role. We're going to be solid at DE (even if we won't be as good as we would have been with Tuitt) in the coming years. I'm also interested to see if Stockton gets a shot at DE.

picture link = broken. But on Stockton... he was the #32 player in the ESPNU 150 and a consensus 4* DTish prospect. He redshirted in 2009 I think... and I'm not sure if he played at all last year... but at 6' 300 lbs I'm not sure projects anywhere but in the middle of this 3-4 defense. I think BK probably wants guys with more height and range at DE... but you'd have to think Stockton has the power to play a run stopper, right? Or is it going to be Stockton/Nix in the middle in 2012? It's also important to remember that Sean Cwynar was a big time prospect (also played VERY well this year) and has two years of eligibility left. At 6'4" with his strength, could he transition to that run stopping DE spot? What about Hafis Williams who has a similar build?

At the end of the day, how this relates to Ishaq is that I would bet my life he plays the pass rushing OLB spot his entire career because that is where he fits best and we are actually starting to get quite a bit of talent on the DL. At DT with Hafis, Sean, Louis and Tyler you have 4 really talented guys... three of which were very highly rated. Will one of them make a move this spring? Will there be a transfer? Only time will tell.

Stockton is a nose guard. Can't see him playing any other position.

Kelly/Diaco used Hafis a lot at DE this year when Ian was available at NT. When Ian went down, Hafis backed up at NT. With Nix coming on to [probably] back up Cwynar, I see Hafis as one of our two DE back-ups along with Schwenke. As people graduate [particularly Cwynar], Stockton should play NT with Nix. Ishaq has no need to adjust to 3-4 DE when he can take his natural ferocity to the rush OLB position to which he seems currently to be born to play.

The Patriots have frequently used pro-bowl NT Vince Wilfork at End on running downs. In the 3-4, it is not unheard of to line up a human bowling ball-type of Tackle at End and let him eat up a side of the O-line on running downs. In fact, it can be a pretty effective alignment, especially when you have human tackling machine at MLB with the speed and lateral quickness to track down backs before they get into the second level, as ND has in Manti.

Say Ishaq, councell, Tuitt and lynch are all starting in a few years. In diaco's defensive does it matter what linebacker is behind what defesinve end. I would assume you would want your cat behind a stronger run stopper, but i'm not sure on this. Any insight anyone?

I would imagine it's too early to project who ends up where exactly, but that is a very good question.

I happened to see him in the subway in Manhattan. He was with a whole bunch of friends who loved the fact that I recognized him. He's a nice kid, and my 5 year old was excited as hell to see a real ND player. And man, he looked huge.
