What!?

I'm not buying it. It's so easy for people to impersonate others.

Okay, number one - it's a bit creepy to be friends with someone you've never spoken to.

Number two - Reading what his friends post on his wall and looking at his pictures does not mean you're getting to know him.

Jeeesus. They are really getting whiney in the 4 Horseman Lounge

how is it creepy? it is a SOCIAL NETWORKING site.
Most of these kids are real nice. Just saying something to them like congratulations on a college choice or good luck or something of that nature.
Why not try and get to know a future ND star? I think its cool.

Wow, you two are so not making the generational gap "bridge."

Remember guys, you both have to pay at the proverbial tollbooth to make the connection.

Daniels is a veteran defensive end with a wealth of experience in the NFL. In 2009, he returned from a knee injury and started all 16 games, posting 46 tackles and one sack. Daniels has played 134seasons in the NFL and has amassed 614 career tackles (386 solo) and 60 sacks. In his offseasons, Daniels has competed in power lifting competitions.

NFL Acquisition: Selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the fourth round (99th overall) in the 1996 NFL Draft

How Acquired: Signed with the Washington Redskins as an unrestricted free agent on March 3, 2004

I pulled this off of his dad's stats on the redskin's website.
I found it very interesting that he has so much experience in the NFL...lol

So my theory(s)

DaVaris had his top blown off by the newspaper who had a legit inside source and they're pissed they stole his thunder.

Or, all of the support he's getting from ND players makes him want to reconsider his choices. Maybe he wasn't qualified for admission, and now he wants to work it out.

So are we most likely in for a disappointment tomorrow, or soon after? I mean could he have done anything to help his grades so quickly?

I was thinking of the same two theories...

Hopefully it's the second, and he eventually comes to ND.

Or, he does not qualify for ND but does not desire this to be made public, so he is acting like ND is a choice when all the while his only choice is Miami.

Then why doesn't he just commit to Miami at his press conference?

He doesn't have to list his choices.

You guys should read all the crap rumors that are going around the 'Net right now on both public and premium sites (scout, rivals and ISD), as well as other 'reporters'. Some say he was all Miami, others say he was all ND. Some say he was going to choose Miami until the bogus article came out and he dedided to take a step back b/c ND was his first love, others say it is because he can't qualify for ND, and now that it's out there he doesn't want to seem like that's the reason he chose Miami. One Miami Scout writer even said that Daniels was going to choose Oklahoma tomorrow (WTF???).

Bottom line - no one knows except Daniels and his family, and MAYBE the ND admin dept. But judging from what his dad told Steve Wiltfong about cancelling his presser, it seems to me like he was going to choose Miami but had 2nd thoughts b/c he had never visited there before. Also said that he's going to take some visits before deciding.

This is the exact reason why we should wait until the season plays out AND until NSD before we start worrying immensely about BK's ability to recruit. If he wins, guys will come, and BK will be a genius. Guys that had ND out in front will choose another school, and BK will not be good enough to recruit at ND. Guys are going to decommit from schools, and ND will be an option, and BK will be lauded. And there will probably be one or 2 that decommit from us (happens to everyone), and BK will be cast a failure be overzealous fans.

BK cast a really wide net, much wider than CW, which means we're going to have more guys NOT choose us just b/c of sheer numbers. This strategy could be brilliant, or it could fail, but whatever it is, it will be a rollercoaster.

Wake me up in February...

Tomorrow is gonna give me a nervous breakdown between his announcement and I find out if I'm closing on my house tomorrow....I think I'm gonna drink myself to sleep tonight!

Your lady might paint your toenails pink. Curl your hair.

Because after that report came out it was inevitable that a reporter would ask him at the presser if he was qualified to ND and how that played in his decision.

Per ESPN:

According to Tony Monken (Vernon Hills), DaVaris Daniels won't be making a college decision until the air is cleared about a story that broke last night in the Chicago Sun-Times. More to come.

I've also heard he's going to wait for an all star game to announce. I don't think he liked that article stealing his thunder.

This whole thing feels wrong. It's somehow unsettling.

I'm with NDinLA...not paying attention to his one for a couple of months (unless he commits to us).

Damn, the huy that wrote the suntimes article saying that Daniels committed to Miami got called out NASTY by Daniel's father. Straight put him to shame.

Here's the article:

Vernon Hills' Daniels heading to Miami :: FOOTBALL :: YourSeason

Now here's the response from Papa Daniels:

phillip daniels wrote:
Tilly thanks a lot for recording the conversation. As for you Mr. Taylor Bell, you should be ashamed of yourself fabricating a story for your benefit. I hope everyone sees this because you are writing a bunch of lies. In the interview which is recorded, DaVaris never says that he was unable to qualify academically and does say that he is ok there and his exact words are I'm completely good. He never told you which school he would commit to and you also made that up. By the way, DaVaris has 16 offers so that is also wrong. Then you pull a bunch of statements that was said years ago to use in your article just so you can put something together. I have dealt with media all my life and you are by far the worst ever. You steal a 17 year old's joy by writing nonsense about him just so you can say I got the story out first. Well Mr. Bell your whole article is completely wrong and a piece of trash. Maybe all your articles are like that now that people see what kind of stuff you write. I wouldn't read anything else you put out there because I wouldn't like to be fed a bunch of lies. So let me tell the true story. DaVaris started out slow academically as a freshmen and has been working hard to pull his grades up and now he is completely fine just like he told you. DaVaris has 16 offers with Notre Dame, Miami, Oklahoma, Michigan State and Iowa being his tops to chose from. He has not committed to anyone and was going to do so at the noon press conference today in which we cancelled because he needs more time to decide and take his visits. Maybe you should have waited for the press conference before throwing this out there and you would have realized that your trash is just what it is - TRASH. Now the people know the truth about you. There are some really good reporters in the Chicago area and I know a lot of them from my time playing with the Bears and believe me you would not be one of them. I hope you can live with yourself trying to destroy young men hopes and dreams through slander and lies. I will pray for you and hope that you never use my son's name or my name in your articles ever again. For our name to be anywhere on the page with your name would make people think that we deal with people who lie and that is totally not us. Have a good day. Phillip Daniels.

There is history here!

There is history here!

Not only is EGO a different story, these guys Daniels and Spencer play in Chicago, it's basically the same kind of weather.

Look at the where the best "cold weather" HS "game changers" have gone, and you will see a pattern. The last "game changing" stud from the midwest to stay in the midwest for college was Prior at OSU! Over the last 12 to 15 years, there is a definite trend of midwest recruits going west and south for their college careers. I can't blame them, especially if the big time programs in the Midwest aren't winning, ie. ND, MICH, Penn St. Sole exception is OSU, and really, they've had one great season and a few good Big Ten seasons, with a butt whipping in their Bowl game. Until ND starts winning with 3 and 4 start talent, they won't get the 5 star guys from the midwest or anywhere else to stary in the midwest or go to ND.
