7/27 Rabasa Will Take a Look at ND By Jeff Baumhower
On Wednesday, Anthony Rabasa will head to Notre Dame for an unofficial visit. The linebacker from Christopher Columbus High School (Miami, Fla.) doesn’t have an official offer from the Irish, but is hoping to land one before he leaves town.

According I deleted the (Offer) from the title of his thread and hope to have it back up soon.

Rabasa's story sounds a little like the ISD article on Danny Spondy. He grew up in the heart of another team area, but was an Irish fan. The recruiting services have not taken the time to get to know him. I like our chances with Rabasa's. He seems like a good kid that loves football. That is exactly what Kelly looks for.

How do you know Rabasa grew up an Irish fan? That's the first I've heard that. I thought he was a Miami fan.

Scouts and Rivals don't seem to high on Anthony, but ESPN likes him a lot! Plus just look at the kids offer list! He is a player! I hope he gets an offer soon and brings Lynch : )

Me too.

Rabasa talked about landing an offer from the hometown Hurricanes, a team he admittedly rooted for as a child, and affect it has on his family. “Miami’s offer I got it last week. My recruiting coach, Paul Gonnella, we were talking over Facebook and we ended up talking over the phone. I guess they love me down there and they are going to offer me and it should be at my house in a week or two. “Obviously, that’s the biggest offer, the most exciting one. Coming from Miami and growing up a Canes fan, it’s the biggest impact on my family and friends, everyone wants me to go play for Miami. That’s the coolest thing. Now I have the opportunity to actually go to this school and playball for them is another big thing for me.”

I remember reading that his father, grandfather and DC were big Irish fans.

I got it from Domer Domain:

IrishFan33-I've known Anthony since he was about 6 years old,the kid was born to play football...
Where ever he goes he's gonna be a beast,Me and his dad have been putting ND in his head since he was a kid... Hopefully he chooses us over Da U....

I guess it does not say he was a ND fan. I took it as implied he was a ND fan. Probably as much wishful thinking as anything else.

Ready for word on this visit..... Pulllllleeeezzzzeeee! :thx:

Don't hold your breath. He won't be leaving until Friday, and media is not allowed to contact a recruit until he leaves campus. You might hear from an insider from ISD or Scout or Rivals who might say that they hear the visit is going amazing or well (ISD's Mike Frank and Steve Wiltfong are the best IMO), but you need to be a subscriber to hear that stuff...

Thanks ND. I'm an insider at Rival's. I've checked there, and nothing yet. I didn't know about the "no contact" rule. Thanks for the info.

He's down to 4: Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, Miami - no order

Will announce in the next few weeks, no more visits

Visit went very well according to Rivals

Per ISD he still plans on taking all 5 officials - so he isn't close to deciding yet...

And like TerryTate posted, Rivals says he wants to decided before his senior season - I guess we'll see who's right.....

Per ISD we made quite the impression and things might look better for us than expected.

He also just texted Steve Wiltfong and said he could make a decision within 7 days.

well, that's what I was referring to, but I didn't want to just come out and say it, NDinL.A.

I think his weight will packed on and he will fit in nicely at the weak side DE. Guys on that side do not need to be as big, 6'2" 6'3" is ok. Wujciak is 6'3" and you have to think he is also a WDE recruit. I feel the guys we are going after at OLB are French, Rodgers, and DePriest.

In a 4-3, sure. In the 3-4, the CAT backer fills the role of the WDE most of the time. French, Rodgers, and I. Williams are probably better fits for the DOG backer in this D, like Councell. Those guys may be better in space, but Rabasa is a great pass rusher. I don't think we will take more than one of those remaining four, though.

I agree with you but it would still be hard for the staff to not take two of them if that situation occurs. That would be one heck of a linebacker class!

Don't get your hopes up on Ishaq or Rodgers. While Rodgers may still be in the picture, I haven't heard much from him lately. Ishaq is coming for a visit in August, but I don't think he has ND leading. French would be great, but it seems like he may be leaning towards playing offense in college. Rabasa is a dynamic pass rusher with a constant motor. Councell, Burton, Grace, and Rabasa would make a hell of a linebacking corp for this class.

Last I heard Ishaq had Penn State leading and Notre Dame was in his top 3. But like we've seen in the past, an early August visit could sway that very quickly. That campus along with BK's abilities to recruit, could push ND right to the top of his list. If we could land one of Ishaq, Rabasa, or French, that would certainly solidify this linebacking core. Throw one of those guys in with Consell and Grace at LB and Burton and Lynch at DE or hybrid and we are looking pretty damn stout with our front seven.

Columbus DE Anthony Rabasa commits to Notre Dame

Columbus defensive end Anthony Rabasa didn't need more than
three days in South Bend, Indiana to realize he'd found the right
place to go to college.

Rabasa, a 6-3, 235-pound defensive end, told The Miami Herald
Friday he had committed to Notre Dame University. Rabasa, a first
team All-Dade selection last year, had 80 tackles and 10 sacks to
help Columbus win a district championship.

Rabasa is the second Columbus player this week to commit to a
major college. Wide receiver Tacoi Sumler recently committed to
Oregon.

"I got up here and immediately I was blown away by the
atmosphere up here,'' said Rabasa, who arrived at Notre Dame on
an official visit Wednesday. "I love it. We're by Chicago, a
great city like Miami and around here the people are all about
Notre Dame football.''

Rabasa said he visited Miami, Florida State and Florida. But
after his three days in Notre Dame, he said he probably would not
take his remaining visit.

Rabasa, a 3.0 student, said he was excited to play for new
Irish coach Brian Kelly, and a defensive scheme that will allow
him to broaden his skills on defense.

"This is it for me,'' Rabasa said. "They have a whole new
defense they're planning to run and it's going to be great
because it will allow me to be more than just a pass rusher. I
know this is the place where I want to be.''
