Yeah I just had to argue with a kid on facebook because he pulled the 'who have they beat?' line against ND. He told me Oregon and Georgia should be ranked higher than ND right now and that Alabama would destroy us.

I have a buddy who is LSU fan tell me today that LSU is the 2nd best team behind Alabama and that a playoff would totally settle this mess. He said we have not played anybody, and that ND could not make it through the SEC schedule.... blah blah blah. The delusional bubble is about to be popped.

I said "what mess? ND is undefeated and a unanimous #1. Have fun in the cotton bowl playa."

I've been off for almost two weeks and I don't go back until Wednesday but all year I've been hearing crap and being told "eh this is just a fluke, come the end of the year Notre Dame will be forgotten" and "Georgia is playing a real SEC schedule" etc. I can't wait. My boss is a big Alabama homer so it'll be good. I'm not really going to talk all that much crap though because I want us to get through USC first.

on cfb final, when mark and lou put out their rankings, both had ND on top, but mark just made some weird throat sound instead of saying Notre Dame.

Honestly though, i can see where a lot of the country is coming from. either they truly hate ND, which is fine and understandable as we went 'round skull-fcuking everyone for about 100 years, or they think back to the not-so-distant past of 2005-2006 where we were overrated and got manhandled by elite teams in BCS games.

I still have a teeny bit of trepidation, mostly because i'm in shock. It will take me another season or two of us being BCS caliber before I really REALLY have the confidence that people probably had back in the day. Probably at least the same for all the anti-fans out there. But that's ok. Gotta start somewhere.

LOL. I agree with this. Most of the people I am around on a daily basis are total SEC ACC homers and know jack crap about ND. They only know about that period with Weis and our overated status (though I still think we got hosed in OSU game on that Zibikowski inteception!). The LSU beatdown was predictable.

This year is different. Our D can compete with anyone and our offense can do enough to beat even Alabama's d. I try not to look past U$C but damn I want Alabama so bad.

I've been pretty tamed when talking about ND football with friends/friends who hate ND, but I will be going STRAIGHT HAM after we win the National Championship on EVERYBODY.


I have had to endure so much sh!t from MSU and scUM fans my entire life (I was 2 the last time ND was #1). So don't let me down guys!

I can't wait to watch the National Championship game with my dad (ND Class of '75) and see the look on his face when they return their rightful place as NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!

My local evening radio show was even talking about, and they don't even follow college football (Buffalo is a pro sports town 100%). The host -- who admitted he barely follows college football -- kept making the case that if everyone who follows the sport says Alabama is better than Notre Dame, the polls should reflect that. His point was that wins and losses aren't everything. Err... right.

If everyone says it, it must be true!

Host also referenced Aaron Schatz and footballoutsiders.com to say that stats mean more than the actual games. He said that Oregon would beat Stanford most times because that's what the advanced metrics indicate. Right, except Oregon has lost EVERY TIME they've played a great defense in the last few years (Stanford '12, LSU '11, Auburn '10, Ohio State '09).

Let the haters hate. I'm gonna pay off my student loans with that 10.5-point spread in the NCG

I was watching SportsCenter today in the lunchroom at my high school and Jesse Palmer revealed his "rankings" in which Notre Dame sat at #4, behind Bama, UGA, and Oregon. I couldn't hear his rationale, but I don't care what it was. That is the most blatant SEC bias I've ever seen in my entire life, thinking that a Georgia team that was smoked by SCarolina and an Oregon team that lost to the same Stanford team we beat are better than an UNDEFEATED Notre Dame team with the best defense in the country.

I couldn't believe it. I understand, maybe, how you could say Alabama is better than ND despite having a loss, but I have no idea how you could rank UGA and Oregon ahead of ND. Unbelievable.
