Couple of observations:
Interesting how the #11 team is favored over the #1 team by almost 8 points. Kind of suspicious imo. Has that ever happened before or did the committee get it wrong? (Rhetorical question)
We can squash the narrative that Toney wasn’t there if our offense dominates their Defense. Toney doesn’t play D last time I checked. Would be great to get out to a fast start which hasn’t been our calling card under Ash or Denbrock.
Don’t want to see Freeman with that curious squinty look on his face. I want to see a man who is dying to get out there and play. Team needs to be fired up entire game regardless of what results are.
Let’s not lose a key player in the first quarter. It’s never mentioned that Traores departure had any impact on the BYU game. What if Baines got ejected on last years first drive?
We are analyzing this game to death. Our guys need to play for their season and theirs don’t. I would like to see us play uptempo as long as we are not behind the sticks. Let’s hope it’s a great game all around especially the D so we can give Ash his proper name back. It’s been a bad week all around and I need a pick me up heading into the holidays. I decorate one Xmas tree all ND and it won’t feel right if they are already eliminated.

Go Irish! Play violent and fast!

How about Vince Vaughn? Had a bit part in Rudy and known ND fan. Ted Lassi better be a homer. I might have to watch the Fox coverage with Brady Urban and Matt. Do we think Desmond will pick ND? Herbie? McAfee going to be intimidated and pick ND? Where is Lee Corso when you need him? He just be pretty bad to not even have him call in.

Miami without Toney is the best offense we’ve faced this year. Don’t set yourself up for disappointment. The offense will still need to be the reason they win this game
And (as much as our D needs to improve) our offense will be the reason we need to win. Even if our D doesn't play its best, keeping up with the Miami scoring machine - and potentially needing to EXECUTE on a final seconds-remaining winning drive - is essential to our victory.

We need some players on the O to step up and have breakout games.

Offense has not looked nearly as good without Toney and it’s been driving me crazy that we haven’t put him on the bench more in games when we’re up big so we could get more chances for other WRs to step up.

Moore was our clear #3 guy but is out for the season. We’ve got some promising guys but hey havent had a ton of chances to develop.

With that said, I still trust our offense more than our defense. I don’t think we have bad players we just need to put them in a position to be successful
thats a luxury ND fans don’t have.

seriously. If Denbrock can get Walton & the TE involved, I trust him. The problem is, Miami still has an elite offense.I believe Fletcher avg 4.8 you but that’s misleading be 3.8 of those yards is after contact. ND better gang tackle and not be expecting guys with gimpy shoulders or wrists who are going to shy away from it. Would love to see vintage Shuler coming downhill making violent tackles vs what he’s looked like playing injured. Fletcher may not be Derrick Henry, but he’s closer to Henry than he is to all the other RB on NDs schedule

It's crazy to me that anyone would ponder any of this for even a split second.

That #1 rush defense if fools gold when teams are abandoning the run because their pass defense is so bad.
Don't think so, that run defense looks real good when you compare what teams did to them vs their per game average.

The last thing ESPN wants is a real Notre Dame fan on the mic saying out loud what every ND fan is thinking about ESPN right now.
That's exactly why they don't want Gillis. He would call out the CFP and ESPN no holds barred. Calling out ESPN's favorite coach on national TV gets you on the Do Not Invite list.

I know some may not like Gillis but I can’t thing of another celebrity fan who wouldn’t be afraid to call ESPN out on live television. As far as Jason sudeikis…the closest I can find on a connection to ND is that his uncle is George Wendt who we all know as Norm from Cheers. Wendt attended ND for a few years before dropping out.

They are all going to pick ND and lament Toney being out as "completely different Miami team" to downplay the projected Miami L and amplify if ND poops themselves and lose. If it's close, ND isn't as good as advertised and doesn't deserve a playoff spot.

Ash game plan has basically been stop the run and prevent explosives. The thing Toney changes the most is your focus on the “prevent explosives” part. You should assume you can be more aggressive to some degree. But I still expect the gameplan will be largely what we saw last year with expectation/hope that the DL can garner more of a pass rush.

At least it'll make sense when at halftime the coaches are telling us the reason the defense is not as successful is because they were doing things that they hadn't shown on film.

100%. You’ll know the talking points have been delivered if/when they said they were going to pick Miami before the Toney injury announcement but now feel ND has the advantage. This will be w/o any mention of 4-6 starters on the Irish D being out or hobbled and w/o acknowledging that Miami squeaked by FSU & UNC despite having Toney

Not saying it’s not good. Top 10 for sure but stats can be misleading. For example, our pass d is rated higher this week and run d rated lower. Playing Navy with do that…. which is why I hate total yards on either side being the metric
