So I don't get tarred and feathered, I know how good he is at program building.

What does he do on the sidelines during the game?
Hes never built a program. His first head coaching job was among the best in the country.

Brian Kelly...oddly enough....is a program builder

“Leave no doubt”

“Keep the pain”

Just a bunch of empty words from the HC that isn’t nearly as developed as we believed.
Starting to be worried this is what he is. A guy who can get some elite kids to come but not actually have them ready for games like this.

BYU was absolutely gonna be amped for this game. And ND looked like they thought they were playing Purdue.

One of the things as an independent with a weird schedule.... the teams you play dont see you often. Its not normal for teams to host Notre Dame. It's a very big deal for them. You need to show up and hit them in the mouth.

They guy just made a QB that wears #47 look like a future NFL starter. And people want him coaching in the NFL? Lol

Freeman isn’t intelligent enough to know what changes are needed or how to develop game plans and more importantly in game changes. It’s why he needs outside sources to recommend coaches for him. He allows those coaches to create the game plans and roster rotations then figure out on their own the in game adjustments.

He has some incredible traits but my concern with him now is his passion and fire seems to be lacking. Apologizing for getting on aneyas was alarming. He’s not getting on officials at all. He’s obviously not getting on players or coaches.

As many have stated, the team didn’t play hard.

Linebacker play has been poor this year, that is the only position he has his hands on, it’s our worst one with possibly the best depth of talent and experience.

Just like NIU, win out and retain jobs. Lose another game this regular season and a lot of coaches need to lose their jobs.

I’m very disappointed in how the BYU game went, but almost nobody goes undefeated. Most champions have 1-2 losses. It’s really hard to go undefeated. It doesn’t mean somebody sucks or can’t get better just because we lost a tough-fought game. We need to get better and lay it all on the line against Miami. I can’t say I’m super confident we’re going to win that game, but the season isn’t over yet

He looked nothing like an NFL starter , but it was enough vs that scheme. - a bunch of one-side , one read , eye candy short/mid stuff and 5 seconds to wait on a zone window. 1 rush of 6 yards.

The fact that we Didn’t just play fuck you man up defense is baffling. He didn’t need a spy or zone. He’s athletically far less than Wisconsin and Purdues QB. Basically Jack Larsen running power plays, minimal agility.

Disappointed in the respect they gave BYU to allow them to methodically march it in 4 times.

Can’t believe Freeman signed off on that.

I like Freeman a lot. Think he can win it all at nd if he gets his coordinators right.

I think he would be a disaster at the NFL level. He doesn’t seem to be particularly sharp with the X’s and O’s Of the game

Kirby Smart won back to back championships. If Freeman did that I’d never have a bad thing to say again.
But that just shows that even the best coaches lose games, often to much worse teams than #8 BYU ln the road at night. Freeman has room to grow, but there aren’t many (any?) coaches that I would prefer to be at ND

I do think Denbrock has to be replaced though. Good coach but we need some new ideas on offense

It’s not just that Notre Dame lost to BYU. They were out coached, out schemed, out played, etc.. If Notre Dame played a clean game and still lost, that would be a much easier pill to swallow. How does a team commit so many mental and physical errors when they are returning their HC, both coordinators, starting QB, and a bunch of returning production? No matter how you look at it, last night was a disgrace and embarrassing.

Freeman needs to wake the fuck up. His “keep the pain” and “leave no doubt” bullshit quotes were cute at the time and made good t-shirts, but now it looks really stupid.

Kirby and Dabo each won championships in a different era, pre NIL and transfer portal. Dabo obviously will NOT adjust to it and Kirby has been slow to adjust to it. Their teams aren’t as good as they once were because of that. You can’t stock pile 5 stars and let them wait their turn.

Freeman and ND adjusted quickly to NIL.

Freeman is a great recruiter and representative of the university but he’s probably an even worse coach then even I thought. This is year 5 and our best chance to win it all and we just failed our first test miserably.

It’s pretty obvious the coordinators completely control the scheme and play calling and the position coaches control the rotation. Both are awful.

Lose to Miami and miss cfp I still think you keep freeman but every single coach should be evaluated and ND should hire someone externally to do this. You then overhaul the coordinators down where needed. Denbrock is too old for today’s game and type of player and ash is just an old school conservative coach that’s average.

I just don’t know if you can win it all with a head coach as clueless as freeman regarding scheme, xs anns os, and in game adjustments. Remember Brian frichan Kelly had to make the defensive scheme adjustments FOR freeman in 2021 after freeman’s structure got exposed game 1 vs fsu. Kelly is an offensive guy.

This isn’t overreacting, both sides of the ball were a mess and not prepared last night. Our first game against a good team.

They have a bye week and a chance to make significant adjustments in prep for Miami. We shall see
