It’s not the commentators I have a problem with. It’s the audio/visual stuff. ESPN makes you feel like you’re in the stadium and embraces the crowd component which is integral to college football. NBC kinda neuters it.

Yeah, ND night games that I have attended in recent years have actually been pretty lit (in ways they did not used to feel). That did not come through on the TV last night at all.
To be fair. Wisconsin and Sparty are likely two of the best defenses we will play this year, especially in the front seven. I suspect we will run more effectively against even “better” teams like SMU and probably BYU.

They're all a bit "de-lu-lu" about how close the game was. They couldn't move the ball. They had one chunk play, and a short field FG off the failed fake punt. It was a misleading scoreline at half and then ND didn't have many drives / didn't finish drives in the second half and that's why it was a 3 score victory rather than 4-5 scores.
Joe Rossi is a very good defensive coordinator. Both MSU and UW had specific wrinkles for ND and to a large degree, it worked for both of them. This happens early in the year when I guarantee you both coaching staffs devoted significant work off season gearing up for this game. That can happen when it is game 1 or game 3 after playing two warm up opponents. Sure, schools will always have a wrinkle. But the degree of magnitude is lessened as the season progresses. Last night was a good sign and outcome considering the sloppyness at times.

Agree 100%. Fickell and Fitz are damn good defensive guys. Fitz always had some smart coaches on his staffs, having to do more with less. Look at the Braun guy Fitz brought in at NW , he is doing a good job with the poor resources there.
