I don’t think you can drop OSU out of the top five for losing by one on the road to the new number one. It should really be emphasized by the AP that SOS and especially big time OOC scheduling needs to be rewarded.
Except to serious ball-knowers who understand that “top-5” matchup was nothing more than two greased up toddlers fencing with pool noodles.

Seriously though. Yes, they are two of the best teams in the country. But they are absolutely beatable.

We have nothing more to go on in week 2. We know (1) these teams are loaded with NFL talent, which is obviously correlated with team strength (2) they return key players + added proven guys in the portal (3) OSU is historically elite and Texas has been varying levels of good the last 3 years.

It’s fair to Assume these are 2 top five teams regardless of how sloppy it looked. There’s no other way to do a poll this early.

There shouldn't be polls before week ~5 but since we do it... yes

Ohio St and Oregon (especially Ohio St) have very difficult schedules remaining. Today didn't help their playoff chances. Ohio St will likely get in, but that 2nd half was stunningly bad tonight. Oregon looks overrated and clearly didn't want the game today near as much as Oklahoma St. Hard to not put that on Lanning after the red flag from last week v. Boise.

Texas will correctly be #1.

Texas had no answer to OSU’s defensive pressure for the first three quarters. Then Day called off the dogs and sat back in a soft zone, which immediately let the Longhorns back in game. Why not start dialing up pressure again when they cut the lead down to 6? Coaching malpractice. Day is a fraud.

I'm sure he's good at coaching football but i don't think he's good at gameday coaching.

Happy for Sark and Arch- fuck Ryan Day and OSU. That was the kind of result that changes the trajectory of people’s careers. Texas moneyline bet tonight is something I’ll remember for awhile. ND/UT for the title.

I only watched the second half of Texas v OSU but Smith looked average during that half.

He was a dude among boys in the 1st half: 7 catches for a buck something and a tuddy. Told my wife that's the #1 overall pick next year, and she said "not a QB?" I said, well he's THE best player, but unlike JLove, he plays a position that CAN go first. But, depends as it always does on the QB's themselves. Incidentally, I went to bed early 4th quarter. Too many Bell's Two Hearted. What the hell happened? Day shriveled up? Arch took control?

They’re a 3 point loss to IU away from being out of the CFP. Sorry, we don’t make the rules.

Hand up....

I went to bed after the 3rd quarter. I was wiped out from driving 6 hours and it seemed over.

My morning reactions:

1) LOL

2) I think those are both top 5 teams, but I am not convinced that either of them has a Top 5 coach.

3) Defense wins championships. I like our D against anyone.

4) I like CJ more than Arch or Sayin.

5) We can do it this year.

I like our chances too IF:
-We can get some development from 1 or 2 of Graham, Fraizer, or Porter.
-Aneas Williams suddenly looks like an Irish back or they go to James and someone else as the main ball carriers.

I don't like having to put together 7-10 play drives against the top defenses all game long even though our defense will likely make them do the same. We need some explosives.
