I remember getting into an argument with some trolls a few years ago. It had to do with the Budweiser ad that was released after 9/11 where the Clydesdales were kneeling toward where the towers stood. They were trying to make some stupid point that it was silly for horses to worship towers. I think it's one thing to troll over silly things, but it just felt a bit too far to me. Too many innocent lives were lost that day, making light of those sacrifices is wrong. Those kids were probably too young to remember or may not have even been born when 9/11 happened, and they may never experience something that impactful in their own lives.

9/11 was one of my first memories, I was almost 5 when it happened. Still remember walking in to my mom watching it on the TV in her bedroom crying, and scrambling to grab her keys so we could go grab my sister from school and trying to call my dad. We lived in central VA but really at that point nobody knew what was safe.

We weren't worried. North Dakota is only important if nukes get launched lol. Granted I was 9 and didn't know that.

Hard to believe next year will be 25 years. As awful as 9/11 was, 9/12 and the month that followed were so beautiful. I can never remember this country being more united. I've told the story elsewhere many times, but I worked in K-Mart my first year in college. We sold out of American flags the next day and they couldn't keep them stocked for months after. I've never seen anything like it, and while the unity was truly awesome I hope it never takes such a tragic event to bring us together again. Hopefully that togetherness can happen without the bloodshed.

He likes to talk about the Big Ten Basketball Championship he won at Michigan and how he lead the nation in free throw shooting. (He was 2 for 2 as a walk-on.)

I remember several years ago getting into it with some online trolls. Someone posted the Budweiser 9/11 ad and the trolls started roasting it. They didn't understand the symbolism, or so they said, they just thought it was stupid that horses were bowing/kneeling towards where some buildings used to be. Is the premise a little goofy? Maybe, but we're talking about one of the most tragic and memorable attacks on American soil in our lifetimes. Maybe they were just trying to get a rise out of people like me, maybe they were serious, but it just reinforces that the internet is a silly place that often has the worst kinds of people. However you feel about the ad itself, their comments felt a little disrespectful to me at the time when the ad was paying tribute to those that gave everything that day.

Mea culpa. I was focused on “never forget” and rushed to post. I remember the unity in the country for about a year post attack & then it went back to same ole hatred. Now 25 years later, it’s only memorialized on the anniversary so “Never Forget” seems appropriate. You’ve never struck me as a bad faith poster so apologies for snapping back. I see what you meant now & will delete as I see it’s attracting the “usual suspects” which was not my intention. Again, apologies.

I sat in a dorm lounge at Seton Hall surrounded by people who had no idea if their loved ones were alive. Many of them were not. I sure as hell will never forget and you can be damn sure my classes are learning about it next Friday. I actually am fortunate enough to have been gifted a small piece of concrete from the North Tower by a retired NYPD officer. Having the kids be able to pass that around during that lesson is a privilege and a responsibility that I don't take lightly.

Final homily by Father Judge given on September 10 2001. Father Judge died the next day administering Last Rites to FF Danny Suhr who was struck by a jumper. Father Judge can be seen in the lobby of the North tower on video captured by French filmmakers recording a documentary.

Forgot what? After essentially saying it's impossible for you to forget, you follow it up by claiming "many" have "forgot".

What specifically do you think "many" forgot?
