Julius Jones may have been a better pure runner but Kyren Williams contained just enormous quantities of dawg. He was the soul of the 2020 and 2021 teams, which went a combined 21-4 (the fourth loss being a bowl game in which he did not play). I'd put him ahead of anyone we're talking about but Love.

I think Kyren and Price are pretty equal. I would rate them better than the rest of the 2000's RB's.

Love that he has a good feel for the pocket but also the escapability to extend plays when things do break down.

Man, Pauling and Raridon did make quite a few plays downfield for us last year. Pauling was a great addition.

I think the sum of the parts in 2026 will be far greater than 2025, however, between Porter, Graham, Cam Williams, Micah Gilbert, Burress etc. lot of young potential and raw talent to combine with Faison and a (hopefully) healthy Greathouse.

He's in for a big year.

My only worry is his mentality now that the team is truly on his shoulders. Really wish he hadn't had such a bad case of the yips against USC. Those couple of games where he played tight are the only thing giving me pause.

I actually think his mentality is why he’s going to do well. He has that obsessive/psychopath behavior that’s needed to be a true alpha QB1. We saw it last year when he was warming up by himself and everyone thought it was weird.

I agree with you. Those clips above and the USC game makes me even more mad about missing the playoffs last year. CJ having another 4 games of high pressure experience would have helped going into this year... Any doubts would have been settled with the primetime exposure.

I hope you're right. I don't think there's any question that he's a psycho competitor, but that can be bad thing if it turns into internal pressure. The warming up by himself thing is a good example actually. IIRC the coaches said at the time that CJ wanted to do that because he likes to get his antsiness out by moving around and throwing instead of stretching with the team. That doesn't sound like a stone-cold killer to me. It sounds like a bundle of nerves.

Really not trying to be pessimistic about CJ overall as I'm really excited about him. I think his floor is probably a top 10 QB in the country and he's going to shred the bottom 3/4ths of the schedule. Just saying my only concern is the USC game where he was clearly in his own head and spent a lot of the early game overthrowing wide open Raridon.

In the most intense game possible (Miami) he played well given the horrible game plan. I agree CJ can overhype himself, but he settles in once the game gets going.

Side note: he/coaches need to be willing to run him more.

I respectfully disagree. We have a steep stable of backs, and I really don't have any interest in seeing Hebert or Grubbs at all unless it's in mop up duty.

I think the way they used him in the run game last year was effective. Just enough to be someone the defense had to respect. Also, Love was a sneaky good run blocker for him

I only want to see CJ run the ball if his pass protection is breaking down to avoid a sack. Maybe on a few 4th and 1's throughout the year, I'd be alright with that too.

I prefer not to have any designed qb runs. It's a bad sign if we need to do that to convert short yardage.

CJ should feel free to take off when the play breaks down though.

CJ is a perfectionist. There are some side effects of that.
But as someone who watched Peyton Mannings ocd neurotic ass his whole career. I'll take an intense obsessive perfectionist prick any day of the week

Tom Brady was the same way. If you didn't run the route correctly he'd just unload on you right there in the middle of practice.

Neither Peyton or Tom were mobile or could 'buy (pocket) time' so WRs running precise routes was essential in NOT exposing either to hellacious hits in the pocket.
