Side note- it's crazy to me that someone would coach both OTs and TEs. That might've been more common back then, but I don't think that would happen these days.
Well in that era the TE was a lot of times just an "extension" of the OL. The game is much different nowadays.

Always useful to get “he’s overrated” with zero analysis or insight as to why

Last visit. Big because no matter what happens elsewhere, he will probably follow through out of respect for dad’s school

I feel like he’s important from an optics standpoint because he is an important recruit that is a legacy. But I also think we would be excited to land him if his last name was Smith as well. He is a 5 star WR that we don’t land them often.

Well there it is. He dropped Florida. Until this update he was committing on 6/27 after 4 OVs with a trip to Gainesville on 6/19.

Then there was the open discussion about his commitment possibly on 6/20 or 6/27.

Then there was the interview with Sesay where he said he may commit on a visit or on 6/27 after his last one to FSU.

They will certainly not be on the same day, but it is likely Jones goes public before, likely on 6/20 and even if Sesay commits on 6/12 weekend and cancels his last OV, he would announce after that weekend.

If there are still questions that need to be answered, I'm starting to get that sinking feeling that ND may need to have backup plans in place. If this turns into a squeeze, ND rarely plays that game for multiple iterations. Really hope I'm wrong

The forty year decision of my generation was Julius Jones vs Maurice Clarett. I wonder if we have to update the names.

The the recruiting has been going, I am truely just enjoying it and not really stressing it, because either we get him or we pivot asap and get a just as talented a player.

I appreciate your optimism. But missing on JJJ would be a major kick in the nuts. And I'm not sure what other WRs in this class that we actually have a legit shot with are really comparable to him as far as talent/ranking/playing style besides Gayles.

The month before fall camp is shaping up to be an awesome gap filler. We're going to be loaded with intel/decisions from top players we have real shots in all of July and probably drooling over our DL class, then bam August. 2026 is going to be one for the ages.

I guess more optimism that we get this done. I remember last year we were worried about Finley when he took his last visit to Texas and we sealed the deal.

Not getting JJr would be a blow no doubt, but I'm no longer concerned with wr recruiting. That's one position there'll always new plenty of players in the portal.
Last year, we signed a 3rd round pick. And a slot starter who will make an nfl roster.

This year, we signed two former 5*'s.

The list will go on when MF and MM feel the need to supplement the room.

ISD saying they'd be shocked if he picks anyone but the Irish.
I was going to say that if all the sudden consternation was due to him saying, "I want to get my last questions answered at each school," I am not sure what else he was supposed to say when asked.

I care about recruiting at all positions and that won't stop regardless of how much talent we stack at a certain position. Injuries/transfers/bad evaluations happen, and WR in particular is a position where you need depth with the way offense is played these days.
