Economically it does hurt Germany. How does it hurt us? There’s still going to be 30k Active Duty personnel there. By your logic, adding 5k troops would make us safer. What’s the right number of personnel we need for safety?
I don't know I'm not a general, but seems to be an unpopular move to those in the know

"how does it hurt us" ..... I sadly realize that the concept of friendship is meaningless to many more people than I hoped.

If all acts are threats or in some way unfriendly, then one ultimately finds oneself without friends. I don't want that world.

And, no, it's not the primary responsibility of the forcefully weaker "partner" to initiate and carry a friendship. Jesus "said" that.

And, when that always threatening, always dividing, attitude continues to be employed down the scale, through ones own country city neighborhood, one will stand alone. That too is not the world of continuous threat that I want. It .... hurts.

... as far as US troop deployment in Germany is concerned, yes, such decisions should always be made using practical real-world decisions involving the safety of ourselves AND our friends, and made with care, neighborliness, and handshakes.
