Yet another Trump and family grift... They've made a cool $60 mill. on the backs of US consumers on the promise of a Trump Mobile T1 phone but it's nowhere to be found.

Good analysis on the downfall of Spirit.

There's some bits of truth in the clip, but when you try to run on narrow margins, you aren't protecting yourself from fluctuations. Southwest was a low fare budget airline hated by the other carriers when they started, yet here they are. Why? They realized they couldn't survive on narrow margins.

I can't speak for other airlines, but now defunct American Trans Air was one of the ten largest airlines in the US. They had a strategy that provided low cost flights to Florida, AZ and Hawaii. They decided to branch out and before you could blink an eye, they were gone after 27 years. It's tough to compete in the airline industry.

  • Pan American World Airways (Pan Am): Ceased operations in 1991.
  • Trans World Airlines (TWA): Acquired by American Airlines in 2001.
  • Continental Airlines: Merged with United Airlines in 2012.
  • Northwest Airlines: Merged with Delta Air Lines in 2010.
  • US Airways: Merged with American Airlines in 2015.
  • Virgin America: Acquired by Alaska Airlines in 2018.
  • AirTran Airways: Merged with Southwest Airlines in 2014.
  • ATA Airlines (American Trans Air): Ceased operations in 2008.
  • Aloha Airlines: Ceased passenger operations in 2008.
  • Eastern Air Lines: Ceased operations in 1991.
  • Midwest Airlines: Merged into Frontier Airlines around 2010-2011.
  • AirCal (Air California): Acquired by American Airlines in 1987.
  • PSA (Pacific Southwest Airlines): Acquired by US Air in 1987.
  • America West Airlines: Merged with US Airways in 2005.
  • Reno Air: Acquired by American Airlines in 1999.
  • People Express Airlines: Acquired by Continental in 1987.
  • Vanguard Airlines: Ceased operations in 2002.
  • Tower Air: Ceased operations in 2000.
  • Air Florida: Ceased operations in 1984.
  • National Airlines (Original): Acquired by Pan Am in 1980. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

A new CNN poll conducted by SSRS finds that 77% – including a majority of Republicans – say that Trump’s policies have increased the cost of living in their own community. Roughly two-thirds of Americans say that Trump’s policies have worsened economic conditions in the country. And Trump’s approval rating stands at 30% on the economy, a career low.
What's not to like?? I don't get it??

Sound retort rooted in facts, logical evidence, and clear relevant premises. A gift.
You're an idiot, so that's not surprising.

I typically pay no attention to gassing up my truck, yet the other day was the first time I noticed: $4.44 gallon and over $120 to fill the tank. You know that has to be hurting some people.

Idiocy is a nation letting millions of people (majority of them being poor and uneducated) come in unvetted and then providing them social services on the back of the taxpayers. All that on top of the same nation who has for decades argued and struggled to care for their own poor, homeless, disabled, etc.

Can't both sides be idiots?

$6/gal is a lot cheaper than the 10 million illegals and better than dealing with men in the bathroom with little girls.
Not sure what calculation you’re basing that on but nothing is cheaper now than then. Haven’t seen any either way but I don’t obsess over it or have a habit of checking while I’m in the bathroom 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Is it ideal? No, it isn't. But I prefer it over the alternative.
And Trump knows exactly that. Which is why he’s free to grift away the most corrupt Presidency ever while trampling all over the Constitution with zero recourse from “conservatives.”

So long as browns, gays, libtards, purple hairs, and reasonable tax brackets lose, who cares when we lose?

Put them in their place.

But tell me more about this Derangement Syndrome.

What did they specifically lose?

We had our first tax return in 4 years (Thanks to my wife's overtime and the new rules). I only seem to pay when Democrats are in charge.

You should probably file it more than every 4 years.

Touche, that came out wrong  But yeah, was not expecting to get money back this year after paying 4 straight years. We never had to pay more than $400-500, but it was still most unwelcome after always getting money back since having kids I was not real happy about having to pay all of a sudden. We ended up getting back $1700 this year which has never happened and was quite a pleasant surprise.

Don’t dox yourself but I would analyze your tax situation by comparing - tax calculated before deductions (amount you have to pay per the government) as a percentage of taxable income. You can see what’s driving your refund, if it’s rate based (tax rates dropping), deduction based (better utilization of available credits), or just timing based (if your employer withheld more from your cheque than was estimated to be needed).

Worst case is that it’s timing based and you just lent the government more money than they ended up needing from you during the year.

I always have my dad do my taxes. He told me I'd get a refund this year but not next year just due to how my employer did withholding.

Uncle Sam got a modest interest free loan from me this year!

You passed the fucking bar, do your own taxes!

Unless you have company setup then get that SOB CPA to do them.

We normally file Turbo Tax, but because of the changes to overtime we went with an H&R Block rep this year to make sure nothing was screwed up and a professional looked things over. They said it was my wife's overtime which helped big, and she did put some considerable extra hours in last year.
