It’s not the hatred for Trump that fuels the declining blue line. He is not the cause of the abject chaos and demolition of democratic norms. His voters are. This is what they wanted.

Its more the whistling past the graveyard by so many of our fellow citizens’ who defend the moral and institutional decay. It is my opinion that the inevitable moment when white people become the minority in this country (2040-ish?) is seen - by a disturbingly larger number that I’d ever have guessed - as an existential threat to their fever dream of a becoming a white Christian nation. This white replacement fear drives a lot of Trump’s base. Enough, i’m sad to say, that there seems an uncomfortable acceptance by so many of our citizens of jingoism, Christo-fascist white nationalism, Constitutional apathy, brutality by agents of the government … And none of this looks anything like the country that existed before that chart began. The America they stood for their whole lives. It is disheartening that our neighbors, family members, coworkers and friends are not really put off enough by any of the chaos and criminality to stop supporting, let alone celebrating, these insults to the country. I have posted a million times over… in the 90s Christianity was at 90%, white demo was at 80%.

We were once essentially a white Christian nation not that long ago. White Conservative Christian’s have not changed. The border has since been flooded and now we have a radical blue wave that has convinced people like you that white Christians are the problem.

A Christian nation is one that imposes its religious ideas on others — women’s right to choose, comes to mind. This was seen by the Founders as a bad thing, and it is precisely why there was a separation of church and state built into the First Amendment.

I’ve continually stated that up until the 90s we were a country 90% identifying as Christian. Not saying we were or need to be a Christian State. That would even go against my belief that free will rules the day. We weren’t so divided because we were at least united in value and belief and there was a trust we had a common goal.

Helps maybe. I love my country and my community. I love my church (people)… We foster (2 currently). Every summer we go on missions trips on our dime, the whole family. We currently have two adopted families that we meet with monthly and help financially… for the sake of argument they aren’t white families or Christian. We even have a drug addict living in my basement, an old Friend of mine from Iowa I met while living in AZ who is a practicing Muslim that hates America, he’s white though. The Democrats used to stand and say we need to secure our borders and illegals were scamming out welfare system. We had A rated NRA Dems. They didn’t stand for gay marriage until mid to late 2000s and they certainly weren’t for trans kids and weird shit. Certainly would have never seen Bill Clinton advocate for taxpayer funded gender transitions for illegals. Never heard anyone say anyone is legal on stolen land. Didn’t see mainstream democratic socialists or commies like Zohran. We didn’t have open hostility towards Israel like we do now in the left. The identity politics hadn’t taken over until really second term Obama election. I’m old enough to remember a bipartisan agreement on immigration being killed by Trump to keep Biden from getting credit. which opened to door to the Draconian shit we are seeing right now.
