Is Mendoza really that good? I did not watch much, if any, of IU games or highlights. But, is he actually an exceptional QB prospect?

Watching the NCG alone, the only game I watched of his, he seemed like a smart, calculated game manager.

How does he stack up against previous prospects to come out in the last three or five years?
I don't really see any difference between him and Ian Book as a passer. Medonza is obviously a lot taller and a little less athletic, but they are basically the same... ordinary arm, accurate, good release. That gets the job done in CFB, I don't really see how Mendoza is going to make it in the NFL unless he goes full Tom Brady winning the mental game and QBs don't really do that anymore.

Significantly stronger arm than Ian Book, with room for growth on top.

I don’t think he’s a 1.1 QB in a strong draft but he’s definitely a Top 10 type QB.

Does anyone hate themselves more than Jim Phillips right now? He’s got the Duke/Miami situation and now Dabo bout to be in his ass to get him a pound of flesh. Following Clemson/FSU, whatever is going on with ND. Dude should just quit before he goes down as the Larry Scott of the ACC

Better than average but not a great Pro prospect, he played with a bunch of grown men who were well coached and he looked pretty mediocre against Miami, Penn St and Iowa and Maryland.

One thing is for sure is the kid is going to excel at winning friends and influencing people, and kill it in the business world.

I absolutely love what Dabo is doing.
Yep. If this chain of events is correct, it's bullshit. Once a guy signs with and enrolls at a school and starts taking classes and all that, it should be game over. At the very least.

Top 10 is a far cry from #1 but he's definitely top 10 in this abysmal QB Draft but still wouldn't dare touch him at #1.

I mean, I’ve learned to just wait and see with nfl qbs,… you just never know, but I REALLY do not see any nfl starter vibes in any attribute with Mendoza. I’ll be really surprised if he’s anything but another good college qb that just cannot translate to the nfl.

That’s bonkers. How brazen can Ole Miss be. Whatever goodwill Golding & Ole Miss may have gotten from the public after the Kiffin soap opera is about to be up in smoke

Yep. At best he feels like a replacement-level starter. One of the guys who cycle through the bottom third of NFL QB jobs all the time.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't just hire one of those guys - there's plenty around - and use the #1 pick on someone who'll actually make your team better. I guess we'll see. The Raiders don't even have a coach right now.

I thought the portal closed a while ago.
???

Portal is closed but there are players who have not committed/signed with other schools yet. You just had to enter the portal, but you could commit/sign to a new school or withdraw before fall camp.

Also, Eric Hansen and John Brice have mentioned that guys can unenroll at their current school and enroll at a different school. I believe this was the case with Purdue Kicker Spencer Porath, hence why he's not counted as a transfer on the rankings.

Good pick up for them - high upside guy who hasn’t produced a ton but started this year and will likely be a depth piece for them next year.

He probably isn't top 3 in the 27 class. Maybe he is 3 after Carr and Mestemaker but he will have a good career. It might be his second stop because the Raiders are a mess, but he is smart and the prototypical game manager. Carr is probably slightly more talented with similar mental traits at a younger age.

he is big enough and has the arm to get the job done
with a QB it is 80% mental anyway
the sour grapes group here really are pathetic
