A little exaggerated to say the least. I’m not taking the side of that coach, but the things you mentioned aren’t nearly as prevalent as you might think. The amount of hardo personalities is no different than in any other sport. I assume you’re talking about cauliflower ears? Today’s headgear is designed to prevent those. I assume it’s the same in all states, but in Indiana Wrestlers have to take tests prior to the season to see if they can drop some weight and it restricts it. The old days of starving, running in plastic suits to sweat it out, etc. haven’t been around for a long time. If there is a coach pushing those measures they should be fired, but in all my years involved in the sport I’ve not seen it.

I’ve watched my little wrestler buddy fight dozens of times against tough mother f-ers and he took them down, controlled, and beat the shit out of almost all of them. It was only when we were outnumbered that I felt really scared.
Growing up on the west side of Chicago forced us to fight, run, and hide on the way home from school almost every day,


Edit- I’m sure this coach is a pos, and I’m not taking his side. Just saying Free should be cautious when dealing with little wrestlers.

It's America... Is anyone surprised that somebody filed a police report to create a paper trail for an attempt at civil action later on? Dude is trying to get paid.

Suing people has taken over baseball as America's primary pass time. This is par for the course lol.

Appreciate this insight. It's been a while since I've been around the sport so I'm probably out of touch. This guy just seems to embody the hardo personality that I referenced.

There are definitely similar sorts of jackasses in basketball, football, lacrosse, soccer, and baseball, so maybe I'm off on this one.

Anyone can file a complaint with the police I guess, but the facts that have been described, the fact that it has been a week with no charges and that Notre Dame came out as hard as they did in that statement makes me more worried about Shorty's job security than Marcus Freeman's.

This is more an embarrassing stain on the sport of wrestling than Freeman.

I’m not sure a male figure skater would file charges based on what occurred.
