Yesterday, ESPN did this article on Vontaze:

NFL - ASU linebacker Vontaze Burfict is draft's most misunderstood player - ESPN The Magazine - ESPN

Burfict finishes last among linebackers in the broad jump and second to last in the vertical jump. And then, in the most sacred test of all, he runs a 5.09 40, slowest for his position. Immediately he hears whispers from the sideline, sees heads shaking, feels the stares. Soon after the drills, he checks Twitter. Big mistake. "Things faster than Vontaze Burfict" is trending:

@theAdamGreen Vontaze Burfict posted a 5.1 on his 2nd 40-yard dash. Now we know the reason for all the late hits: He was just slow in getting there.

@RVAparks Who will go first in the draft? The broom from Stanford or Vontaze Burfict?

@JarrettGC Vontaze Burfict's draft chances are so slim, they just started dating Brad Pitt.

Before he leaves the combine, Burfict will be in a draft free fall, costing him millions. He feels as though he doesn't belong. I'm done, he thinks.

Then, Today, the results of him failing his combine drug test were sent out to the officials of all teams.

Sources: NFL Draft prospects Jayron Hosley, Vontaze Burfict failed drug tests at NFL Scouting Combine - NFL News | FOX Sports on MSN

Burfict was considered a potential first-round pick entering the 2011 season. There is now a legitimate possibility he won’t be drafted this weekend.

Still shaking my head at all the idiots who rated Burfict ahead of Te'o heading into last season.

I agree with Whiskey, but I also find no pleasure in seeing a young man's life come off the rails. It isn't his fault some idiot "experts" rated him higher than Manti. He doesn't deserve to have people revel in his plight because of that.

No reveling going on with me, but Votez is an adult, he is old enough to know better and make better choices, especially when he has the opportunities in front of him. He could have worked out harder, and even if he was working hard and just not talented, he could have chosen to pass on the drugs....I take no joy but I have no sympathy. I have seen young men in my line of work(corrections) that continue to make the same stupid mistake over and over again and than I have seen young men with less chances and opportunities than Mr. Burfict and they chose a different path toward success. To bad but he seems to have pissed away a great opportunity but its not to late to turn it around.

R.I.- at the end of Burfict's junior year he did deserve some of the hype he was getting. Kid was an All-American.

I have always unloaded on this tool...All of this couldnt happen to a better a-hole. Burfict has no repect for organized sports, no respect for other players, and no respect for coaches, or any type of authority.

1. he didnt go to USC because his grades werent good enough, and even PTC could not lie to get him in, his academic were that bad (along with his attitude); and Burfict didnt give a rats *** to raise his grades so he just didnt go to USC.

2. He has tried on many occasions to injure players on the field. that is documented

3. Had numerous run-ins with his coaches on the field and off. (HS and at ASU)

dude is total complete tool, you get out of life what you put in. and he hasnt put in jackshit. Eventhough his draft status has fallen, and he failed a drug test, I know he still doesnt give a sh!t; His actions speak louder than any words.

I hope the eagles pick him up in the 6th ot 7th. Reid has a history of picking up lost causes.

Asante led the NFC in interceptions two of the past three years. Vick was a pro-bowelr before getting completely destroyed by inconsistent line play this year. And Vince Young-well-Vince Young just sucks and is an idiot.

He's not a man corner and we need to play a lot more man with Nnamdi and DRC. 7th is a little low, but glad that he's gone for two reasons 1) It allows us to play a lot more press coverage and 2) Now we have money to sign lesean

I agree DRC was way out of place in the as a nickel back. Just thought Samuel would be worth more than a 7th.

At least he gave the world this fantastic photo. I couldn't possibly care any less what he does from here on out.

Samuel was a pro bowler and the best CB on the market when signed as a free agent with the Eagles. Vick was a former pro bowler in his own right and initially signed to a very friendly contract (and now redone, one the Eagles probably wish they didn't have on their books). Young was brought in to strictly be a back up QB.

I'd hardly call those big gambles on lost causes.

Any team that drafts Burfict in the latter round is potentially getting great value-- if he works out (even for just a couple years), then that's a great pick up for a late round pick. If he doesn't, then oh well, it was only a late round pick.

Looks like this thread is no longer about Burfict, but I for one am kind of happy about his fall.

My dude Audie Cole from NC State is a lb that is rising a little bit more everytime Burfict shows his stupidity. Audie should be drafted anywhere from the 4th-6th round.

Burfict is like how Mike Tyson was that last 10 years of his career, he is just a bully. The first dude that pops Burfict in the mouth, burfict is going to fold like a house of cards

Vick's contract is still friendly to the Eagles they can cut him after this year with very little cost.

This guy is on the edge, however I would pick him up and take a chance...also would move him down to DE. Again a gamble.

I think if they tried to get him to play DE, he would be like Lamar Odom was when he was at DAL and just fizzle out. Burfict has already said he is the best LB in this draft. Plus, he swears he is the next Ray Lewis.
