Man, I really hope our players dont have as negative and defeatist attitudes as a lot of our fans. He went to see his brother play a spring game, Meyer hasnt even taken the time to meet with him, till this weekend. Of course he is going to say he had a good time, he was at a school where he is comfortable because his brother goes there and of course he is going to walk around the events with the players and families with a sense of cockiness because he probably knows a ton of these guys through his brother, not to mention he is 17. May be the cockiness is "look at me a I am going to go to a real school to play my football, not just a semi-pro institution for the NFL".
I still believe we have an excellent shot at landing Mike and to be honest I believe Miami is our biggest threat.
Bottom line is, we will know soon enough and no reason to be all doom and gloom for no reason other than specualtions. As BK is tryen to change the culture at ND to a winning culture maybe as a fanbase we can change our culture a little more towards a positive one, and keep it a caustious optimism but not "OMG the sky is falling".
Lastly Mike is gonna look damn good in the Blue and Gold in 2013! ;)

Just because people think a recruit is going somewhere else doesn't mean we have a "omg the sky is falling" attitude. It's not defeatist to think we'd lose a recruit to the best recruiter in the country.

What if this kid has no idea where he wants to go? You know that is okay. And we don't need to jump his (a seventeen year old's) **** if he takes a misstep or goes a different direction.

I'm not totally sold on Urbie being the best recruiter in the country. Sure, he wins more than he probly loses. Hoke is kickin him in the peepee in OL this year. We got Neal, and Diggs went to Maryland. Tosh Lupoi and Eddy O would probably make some good arguments as to best recruiter in the country.

It is absolutely defeatist to think you would lose to anyone!( defeatist - definition of defeatist by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia. ) I am not saying we should be blind optimist and think we will beat anyone, but not be throw up your hands and say "it's over" cause he met with Urban, recruits have seen threw his bullsh!t before. Im with OC on the thought of not being sold on Urban as the best recruiter in the country, maybe the most full of bullsh!t but not best.

What's funny is that Sapp too said the staff still feels good about their chances but he talked to the Miami and OSU people and they both said they were each others main competition.

All three schools thinks they are getting him and both OSU and Miami think that ND isn't the threat.

Just like OSU thought Neal was theirs. They think they get everybody.

The kid saying he already knows means nothing to me. All the services were saying he could commit before his "27th deadline." He reiterates that statement and suddenly he is a lock for somewhere? Just means he knew where he wanted to go before his visit to osu this weekend. Doesn't make them the choice but doesn't rule them out either. The staff gave a good effort and we are sending in the special ops team one more time.

If he went to OSU and did not commit it has to bode well for us. Nothing's guaranteed, but it has to bode well.

I'm not saying he is a ND lock, but it has to mean something that he went into OSU visit with a leader and didn't commit while there. Perhaps that means Miami is his leader, perhaps it means ND is his leader. I find it hard to believe that OSU was his leader, he goes to the spring game, gets blown away by and doesn't commit on the spot- he was obviously open to the idea of committing early by all accounts.

Don't know what all he says, but I know he says he likes ND's chances for Mike.

Steve Wiltfong ‏ @SWiltfong247
I like Notre Dame's chances with this Top247 prospect. On Mike Heuerman via @247Sports #Irish

Add Wiltfong to the list of believers. He talked to some people.

But there is no way he could be right Urbie it s the GREATEST RECRUITER EVER!!!....I guess if Mike doesnt go there Urban must not have wanted him like he didnt want Neal

ISD says everything they hear points to ND. One person told Christian to "get your story ready"

NSIAP, but Sampson mentioned yesterday that the staff rarely feels this optimistic about a recruit.

Like I said. He's going to be an ND tight end. Never thought any different. I'll eat my words if he goes elsewhere, but right now, I'm sticking to my guns.

Are we still thinking he will wait til the 27th to announce? or is there a real possibility of him making it public any time before that?
