Us Toledo guys don't trail by much, but I used to work in project on the east coast and used to think there was another state. If you look at a map it would be DelMarVa, Delmarva this, Delmarva that. Then I got out on the peninsula and figured it out. Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, all along I 95. Maybe someone with more intimate knowledge could correct any errors in my response.

Because people got tired of saying "DC area" or "national capitol region" or "DC metro area".... it basically includes everything from Dulles Airport to Dale City to Upper Marlboro to Columbia to Gaithersburg if you want to draw a big box on a map.... or simply the counties of Fairfax, Arlington, PG, and Montgomery.... with a stretch into parts of Loudon, Prince William, and Charles.

NO! Completely different things. Delmarva is not the same thing as the DMV. Try googling "bars in the DMV" or "restaurants in the DMV" and everything that pops up will be Washington, DC centric.
