With Zaire and Elmer helping the coaches recruit this could be a very good recruiting year.

dont forget onwualu. he has been getting in some ears too

No disrespect to Onwualu, or Elmer or anyone else for that matter, but Malik being on board early for recruiting is clutch. Having your future team mate and top 10 QB going after it cannot be understated.

Now if we can get Jaylon Smith at the sping game to hold that role on the defensive side of the ball... lookout!

Bring 'Em in boys!

If Jaylon Smith commits at the spring game, the LB core will be set within the following month...

Hearing what Malik had to say about Corey Robinson reiterates again what a natural leader he is. Love the way he is actively recruiting for ND.

Irish Fam is on the mark. Onwualu and Robinson know each other from the USArmy AA Combine where Robinson got noticed. Onwualu and Robinson were both selected as Honorable Mention WRs.

Malik is an asset but Robinson selected ND for more than football.

Where does he fit in with ND though? Not saying he's bad or anything, but they have a lot of depth. Im sure Hendrix or Golson will probably transfer if they don't get the spot but its hard to imagine anyone playing over Kiel until he graduates or leaves early

I'm sure people were saying the same thing about dayne christ not too long ago, and we had Tommy Rees starting over the poor guy. Being a five star recruit is nice, but doesn't mean they will always workout. Zaire could be a plan b invade GK doesn't turn out. After all he chose here knowing the qb situation.

I think Malik will start playing his junior year. Come in as a change of pace QB to Gunner and then take over his senior year. Possibly stick around for 5th year depending on his draft stock if he has NFL talent.

I understand he comes in as a QB and will be given every chance to be one but can he play other positions? Safety?

I have to say, I didn't know much about Malik when he committed. I sure as hell didn't expect him to, but I've been seeing people retweet his tweets or post them on here and I have to say, Malik may be my favorite kid in this class so far.

this kid came to ND MORE for what it offers other than football!

You know I really agree with you. What makes that so ironic, is that of course the buckeye nation had their eyes set on Malik. They were first stunned, then really pissed when we gained his verbal. The comment I heard most over the net and in person was "Malik isn't a good fit for ND;" In fact, Malik seems more and more, to be the prototype of the kind of guy ND wants!

Anyone that heard him on power hour would disagree with them. This is one impressive kid. He's the ND type no doubt.

What I like about Malik Zaire is what I heard about a month or so ago in that he doesn't want to be a dual threat QB who needs to run to set up his ability to throw but would rather become a pro style QB who can run.

I personally can't stand these quasi QB's that are more RB than QB. I want a QB to be able to make throws more so than there ability to run.

If you have a QB that can be a throw first QB with the speed and athleticism of a dual threat QB that's when you've got a true dual threat.

IMO the most likely scenario is that Malik is that they will take there time with him and make him into Passing QB that runs rather than a Running QB that will pass and in the long run it will pay off but it will be a while before he's a viable option to start at QB.

Completely agree with these comments - in my mind Zaire is just an incredibly important commit. His commitment means that ND can expect to have at least 2 starter-level QBs on the bench for at the least the next four years (of course this is assuming no transfers, decommits, etc). When you compare this to the situation over the past two years, one can't help but come to the realization that the program is on extremely solid footing. It's a good feeling to have.
I know they are just highlights, but I can watch this kid throw the ball over and over without getting tired of it. The Vick comparisons are a little cliche, but at least in terms of throwing style and arm strength they're not crazy. He's got the slinging style of Vick and the zip on those balls is something that you just don't see very often. Very excited to have him on board.

Best part:

Everything that you keep hearing about this kid makes me like him more and more. And comparisons to Boyd? If that's even close to being true, he's going to be a stud. Got ourselves a good one on the way...

Isn't that comment what all the Rees backers use? I know several argue the **** out that statement when used for support of Rees. I really like Malik and can't wait to see him compete. He is going to be the heat on Gunners tail for 4 years. Love it!
