THIS.
i can admit that i, irish fam, am a star gazer
he didnt visit ohio state today did he?
Yeah, I'm guilty also. I'm a star gazer for certain positions for sure. Maybe to a fault. Those positions are QB, WR, and DL. For LB and RB I'm sorta undecided as I can be partial to "fit" or sick highlights or stars depending on the guy.
For DBs and OLs especially I just want as many quality guys with the right physical traits as possible. I really think quantity over "quality" wins in recruiting these positions because there is such a huge adjustment between covering crappy HS WRs vs. covering elite college WRs as well as blocking shrimpy HS DLs vs. blocking strong, big and athletic college DLs. You just really don't know who is going to adapt to the next level and who is going to flop.
You see routinely with DBs that lowly rated "athletes" with good builds and good 40 times blow up in college with the right coaching.

The list goes on and on... and while there are also plenty of Dre Kirkpatricks out there who were #1 style recruits and then dominated in college, I think it's very telling that 4 out of the top 7 corners (including the #1 guy) projected to go in the draft this year were all basically unrated players.
So with the depth issues we have... IMO sign up a CB class like our safety class last year... lots of capable bodies even if no headliners in star rating. I'll be happy to add Butler even if I'm not the biggest fan of his film and VERY happy if/when we add Tre Bell.
Rankings and stars don't mean everything. It's really all about good coaching and player development which is something ND has been lacking for years.
Agreed. We should keep the same level of "push" on him as our biggest competition, if someone steps is recruitment up, so do we. Need his recruitment to last till 2013 and keep him away from other programs
Offer lists are greater than stars will ever be, and the system a team runs will have an impact on its on personal board and that outweighs any website or rank.
PSU fans aren't feeling as confident.
They havent felt confident since the Sandusky charges came out.
According to turning point on Twitter that D.B. verballed last night.
And u aren't? Doubt it
I know we need some DB's and I fully trust the staff, but is this guy under the radar? He has a lot of mid level offers for the 40+rated athlete. I just don't want another example of we don't have room for the the 5th bet OT but continue to load up on 3stars.
Don't get caught up in rankings in April. He has some very good offers especially from teams that typically have very good defenses.
Well that's a buzz killjust in case some of you wanted to see the conversation, here it is...
