Sampson on II says he'll be suprised if ND doesn't land both Mastrogiovanni and Anzalone. Also said we are the clear leader for Smith but Randolph is going to require more work.

I agree with everything except Anzalone. Just didn't get the same vibe. Maybe it is just that he is keeping it so close to the vest.

He said something like, "If I am not comfortable making my decision early like I planned then I will take my official visits and I will take one to ND." He also said that ND's spring game is the same day as some other schools and that he is not sure which one he will go to yet.

I guess what I am saying is if he comes to the spring game then I will believe it.

Yea maybe Anzalone said something different to Pete but I wouldn't say that I would be suprised if he ended up elsewhere.

To the people with ISD. Did they have a update on Anzalone on their site?

ISD thinks we sit really well with Anzalone as well. Thinks it is very realistic to see us with Mastrogiovanni, Anzalone, and Smith and then continue to try and flip Randolph. If that happens, our LB recruiting is down for the year and we hit a home run, IMO.

Yeah, I agree. What a haul that would be. And to think that it could definitely happen is awesome. We are in line for a potentially amazing '13 class.

The position that I am worried about is WR, doesnt seem like we are in good standing with any big names... How do we fare with treadwell, quick, and fulwood? It just seems as though there is no news on the WR front, the only recent news seems to be Foster eliminating us from his top schools...

As for CBs, I think three would be enough, especially if we get 3 CBs, Ryan Green, and Ezekiel Elliot... that will allow the staff to use Ezekiel how they want to...

And, more importantly, would confirm the theory that what happened with the '12 recruiting class was an aberration and not the staff's fault in any way, shape, or form - sans maybe a certain MD recruit- MAYBE.

(disclaimer - IMO, I believe it was an aberration)

Last years class is actually still pretty impressive. We have a different outlook knowing the full potential it had.

We need 4 or 5 cornerbacks, hopefully some good ones too.
there is no doubting that ND needs 4 or 5 CB's in this class. They wanted 3 CB's in the 2012 recruiting class and got none and it's the norm to take at the very least 1 in every class but it's really more like 2 every year.

The CB depth is thin as is so IMO they need 5 CB in this class.

Last years class is still quite good but what it's missing is that game changing type talent that ND needs to take the next step.

They got Kiel but they need that kin of talent at WR, CB, S, LB.

I think taking 5 of any one position is never a good idea in recruiting. There are already 5 CB's on the roster for this year and next...and another could be added this summer. Taking the amount you suggest would not only give the team too many overall at one position (there isn't a need for 10-11 CB's when you have an 85 total limit), but also creates another balance problem with numbers the staff will have to deal with in a few years. Not to mention that the year after that, how many kids are going to want to come to ND to play CB, knowing they took 5 at your position just the year before?

3 CB's is plenty for this year. Even 2 wouldn't be terrible.

I think that Davonte, Chris B., Ferguson, Baratti, Shumate, Prosise are a pretty good crop of wr's and safeties.

Agreed for the most part. I just think it's sullied by the fact that we had the potential of Darby and Tee at CB and Greenberry at WR which would, IMO, make this class just as exciting as the year before. However, it didn't turn out that way unfortunately, so we have the misfortune of knowing all too well just how good the class could have been. As good as the class still is, it doesn't stand a chance when compared to how close we were to having an epic class. Nonetheless, I agree that the class is full of talent.

So u want 10 CBs next yr? seems very illogical and unlikely

2 would do, 3 is preferred

ND is ranked #7 overall right now on 247, #6 when it comes to player average (but that's including Oregon and Stanford ahead of ND with 1 and 3 commits, respectively).

ISD reporting that staff said Kinlaw might as well committ so the 3 CB slots don't fill up

Man I love how these commitments are all setting off this rush to commit by a lot of top prospects. This is awesome. Who's next? Green? Elliott?

Gotta think that Jaylon Smith sees this and knows what he could add to the mix, and that he'd be entering ND with a LOADED class

No question it's unlikely but YES, I want 4 or 5 in this class. The depth is terrible and 1 of those 5 is Cam McDaniel who I think is a horrible fit at CB and is only there out of lack of other talent.

Cam is fast once he gets going but he's not explosive and that will be a problem for him at CB.

I know Jaylon Smith wants to wait but the earlier he commits the better it is for ND because better talent will take notice as great players want to play with other great players and this will give ND a better chance to get special talent.

I did hence why I said unlikely but that Iwant to see 4 or 5.

That said I think it will be 5 man DB class with 3 CB's, 2 S's. However I expect ND to take a couple of athletes in this class who could very well end up as CB, S, WR or RB.

I think ND takes three corners and zero safeties this year. Just my opinion.
