So, I hope to raise everyone's awareness about ND lax. They had a great year last year, and I really hope that we can have great discussions during this season.
So here's the scoop on tomorrow's game.
-Duke lost 60% of its scoring, graduated most of its elite talent that won the NC last year
-ND returns nearly everyone except goalie Scott Rodgers and midfielder Grant Krebs.
-ND has a strong midfield, and a super strong defense. The question marks are on attack. production.

Thoughts or questions about the game?

Yup. One question: What the hell is Lacrosse? Is that like fencing?

On a serious note: We have a really good shot at winning a lot of matches, I'm gathering? I recall we did well last year.

Hmm. Maybe we need to educate some people about lacrosse here. So basically the players and setup is very similar to soccer. You have three attackmen (forwards), three midfielders, three defensemen that use sticks that are longer than the others (called longpoles) and one goalie. Aim is to score goals by putting the ball in the net.

Definitely check out the game tomorrow. It's on national television, ESPN. You'll learn alot by just watching how the game's played. It's a great sport, and super supplement to football in the spring. Fasting growing sport in the country!

Haha sorry didn't see that bottom part. Thought you were very uneducated in lacrosse.
Yes, I believe that we can make another run at the NC because of our defense. With another year together, I think that the offense, which struggled to consistently score last year, will pick up its production and complement a shutdown defense

I watched the National Championship game last year and it really seemed like a sport I could get into, it just isn't televised as much to get that into as I would like

I agree about the lack of major television availability but there are some options. If you get ESPNU, they televise a lot of lacrosse games. And I believe that ESPN3 also carries games online.

I'm just a high school player in CT who plays against crazy D1 caliber players. For example, my team played against New Fairfield when they had C.J. Costabile, who was the long pole who scored the NC winning goal on that quick faceoff. He was so good! I play for a team that doesn't have a great history of lacrosse, but we happen to play in one the best high school conferences in the country. We consistently compete against schools that are sending guys to Duke and Syracuse. So we get hammered a lot :(

My uncle, dad, aunt, and grandpa all went to Notre Dame. My sister is there now. I'm hoping to end up there in a couple years!
Yep, just an avid ND lacrosse fan, and maybe an even more intense ND football fan, so I'll be involved in that too =)

That all sounds pretty cool, sucks you are in that conference. I was in a conference like that in highschool, but for football. Except for our senior year when we went to semi-state.

But good luck on your season.

Thanks, maybe we can upset someone this year. It's tough being the underdog

Thanks! I see you're a flyers fan. You guys are having a good year, but the Hawks got the best of you last year =) One heck of a playoff run though by the flyers

NAME POSER!!!

Anywho, everyone should tune into the game today. Our boys are incredibly underrated at #7 and I wholeheartedly expect them to win this game. The wildcard is that Duke is so young we really don't have any scouting on their players whereas there are hours of tape on our guys (and Duke played this team twice last season). I won't be shocked if Duke wins but if lil' Kemp has a solid game in goal this really should be a W for the Irish.

I'd love to see some more and check it out...

as I've said before, growing up in Cali (some can confirm this here) lacrosse is in the same category with polo, cricket, rugby, skeet shooting....

you know people somewhere play it... but you know it sure as hell ain't anyone near you...

seems cool though.

BTW, lax, by numbers is the fastest growing high school sport in the country. Having grown up in northern NY, it may be my favorite game to watch when I don't have a strong rooting interest.

Cornell was the big school when I was in high school. Roy Simmons, Jr. (and now John Desko) and the Orange of Syracuse have clearly changed that although the Big Red remain a great program. ND has done a great job of being very competitive over the years with a reduced number of schollies compared to most of the top programs. The Irish women's team has also been very strong for a long time.

Box Lacrosse on the Onondaga or Akwesasne nation is amazingly intense to watch. Our Iroqouis neighbors are truly the keepers of the Creator's Game.

I was a little worried about the Irish's intensity coming out of the gate, but what a turnaround. In the past 3 or 4 minutes, it seems like ND has won almost every groundball while going on a 4 to nothing run!!!! GO IRISH!!!
