Concerned about being 6'3 might be a nicer way of saying we're not going to land him.

You kidding? At this point, he's a ND lean and a pretty heavy one. But we gotta keep O$U and scUM off of him. Going to Joliet Catholic only helps our chances.

I tend to agree with TT, unless you can provide some sort of insight here...

Got some questions answered about how he would be used, really liked the personal attention of the coaches. Said Notre Dame will definitely be in his top 4 or 5 when he cuts his list down as will Michigan.

Said that we will be taking only one RB this year, Which suprises me considering the amount of RB offers WR have out.

We offered a lot of guys from Texas. I think the staff was smart enough to know that most of them would not pan out. lol

and Ty Isaac would definitely be their #1 option. As a recruit, that has to make you feel pretty good.

We have taken anywhere between 4 to 6 RBs over the past two classes depending on how you classify certain recruits. Not really surprising to me. I think Isaac is a priority because he has a different skillset than a lot of the guys on the roster and is a bonafide stud... but our RB situation moving forward is pretty darn solid as is.

I would think he was let known where he stands. More of a pressure game than anything. Here is who we have that can commit in your spot but here is the offers we have that will be moved if you commit.

That is what I HOPE we said. Guess we shall see.

peoria, please tell me one of the d-linemen will be sporting that cage!

When Nix posted it on twitter and facebook, he alluded to the fact that he, Tuitt and Lynch will all be wearing them this year. Imagine the 3 down linemen with that nasty cage destroying Denard next year. It would make me one happy Irish fan.

but then again he said his visit was "straight" (good thing), some guy tweeted at him that he didnt want to be at a Catholic school, Ty responded with "not that bad" then the guy talked about the bad weather and Ty responded with "excuses"

Yeah, kind of seemed like he was trying to recruit that kid to ND, which would be a good sign. And anyway, even if he was at ND on Friday night, I'm not going to read too much into the "want to go home" tweet. It sounds like he just wasn't into going out that night. The next two tweets are about "unnecessarily loud music" and "exact opposite of my plans." Doesn't mean he didn't hear what he needed to about the football program on Saturday.

Honestly, if a recruit's not into partying, I might consider that a good thing. Sure, you can have plenty of fun at ND but when it comes to partying there are some schools we don't compare favorably with. I'd rather a recruit choose ND for other reasons.

This past Saturday, the Notre Dame coaching staff held a very small and very elite Junior Day. It only included four prospects, so obviously these four are highly coveted by the Irish staff. The invited players consisted of a defensive end, a linebacker, a running back and a wide receiver. Each of these positions represents major needs for Notre Dame in the class of 2013. Last week Irish Sports Daily spoke to two of the young men that attended Notre Dame’s first 2012 Junior Day. What have you been missing by not being a member of Irish Sports Daily?
Ty Isaac, RB, 6-3, 215, Joliet Catholic High School, Joliet, IL is one of the most coveted prospects in the Midwest this year and one of the top running backs in the nation in the class of 2013. Last Saturday Notre Dame hosted Isaac in a very exclusive Junior Day that only included four players. This gave the talented Illinois prospect the opportunity to really get some outstanding one on one time with the Notre Dame coaching staff.
“I’m familiar with the campus, so I was really looking to see how the staff envisions using me in the offense,” Isaac related. “I watched some film with Coach (Tony) Alford, Coach (Chuck) Martin and Coach (Brian) Kelly. I got a good idea of what to expect playing for Coach Alford and Coach Martin. They showed me how I’d be used at both running back and slot receiver. I can get some extra touches playing both positions. It was nice to get some personal time with the coaches and I feel we’re building a good relationship.”
Isaac has set a high priority on the opportunity to compete for playing time early in his career though he knows that it will have to be earned.
“I know you can’t just show up and start from the time you’re a freshman,” said Isaac. “If a coach tells you that you’ll start from the beginning, he’s probably not being honest with you. If I chose Notre Dame, I’d have the opportunity to come in and compete right away. That’s something that’s really important to me.”
Isaac already has a high level of comfort with the Irish staff but he especially enjoyed his time with Brian Kelly.
“It was great for him to take the time to be there and let me know how much I’m wanted at Notre Dame,” Isaac noted. “They told me they’d take one running back in this class and they’d really like me to be the guy. I was told there isn’t any pressure to commit early and they think I should take my visits to make sure I’m comfortable with my decision.”
Isaac’s Junior Day experience has left him wanting more of Notre Dame. He has already made plans to return though he isn’t exactly sure when.
“I got a lot from this visit, I’m hoping I can get back there this spring,” Isaac explained. “I might make it back for the spring game.”
Isaac has a number of other schools that he plans to visit this spring and after that he hopes to trim his list of potential destinations down. He already knows two schools that are likely to be there until the end.
“I’m not close to making a decision, but I’d like to cut my list to a top three or top five after some more visits,” he informed. “Notre Dame and Michigan are two schools I’m comfortable with and they’ll definitely make my cut.”
Isaac doesn’t have a timeline for a decision but figures that will begin to emerge after he finishes with his visits this spring.

Like how BK encourages kids to take visits to make sure they make the best decision for themselves.....shows they truely care about their future.

I like the idea of a 6'3" 215lb RB and I REALLY like the idea of a 6'3" 215 lbs slot !!! Holy crap! :)

What a unique talent he is. I don't know that I can remember seeing a player as tall as he is who shakes guys like he does. From the highlights I've seen they don't throw down the field to him much, so it's impossible to say what kind of ball skills he has, but if he has any decent ability to go up and get the ball then he'll be an incredible weapon with his height, size and ability to run through and around tackles.
