Those chants were great.

Big 12 Sucks!!!
NIT, NIT, NIT!!!!
Country Road was hilarious.

This team continues to surprise me. Honestly I thought this was a loss before the game. They go out and win by 27. amazing. Grant is going to be really really good. He is just so clutch.

Bubble Team Watch Wed Nite

Bubble Team Watch Wed Nite

Notre Dame has won eight in a row, and could hurt West Virginia's at-large hopes tonight. (US Presswire)
By Jeff Borzello Cbssports.com

If Tuesday night was the chance for bubble teams to get marquee wins and boost their resume, Wednesday is the night where they simply have to avoid bad losses. Several squads are off the bubble with a loss tonight.

Best game: West Virginia at No. 20 Notre Dame (7 p.m., ESPN2). Interestingly, this is the only game of the night between two projected NCAA tournament teams. West Virginia has lost five of its last seven, but could really solidify its profile with a win at Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish have won eight in a row, including Saturday’s comeback win over Villanova. They are currently tied for second in the standings. The battle inside between Kevin Jones and Jack Cooley should be fun to watch.

Ahem, NIT.

That was a great game. Thorough domination on both sides of the floor in what was damn near a perfect half of basketball. I don't know how Brey works these miracles. I just really hope he can work them in the Tournament.

They sure show poise beyond their years. For the most part they made great decisions on pushing it or burning it. Defense was great, love to see the 2-3 zone executed so well, that can really destroy teams with no outside shot. Cooley is a lot of fun to watch. You can see him making better decisions every game to reduce fouls and stay in the game.

Since beating Syracuse it is like they realize they can play with anyone if they just execute their job as given by Brey. I like their Big East tourney chances but I really wonder how Brey will do with less familiar foes in the Big Dance, especially 2nd round with two days to prep.

I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that we win out the regular season and make the BE finals. If we do that I can't see us being worse than a 4 seed (hopefully in any team but Kentucky's bracket)

That Georgetown game's gonna be fun.

This was exactly what I was thinking. One thing that always irritated the hell out of me the last few years is when one long outlet pass could lead to an easy fast-break score, but instead, ND would slow it down. With the talent we have, there's no reason to not go for the fastbreak. I loved Jerian's double-pump dunk.

This is definitely the most athletic team that we've had in a while.

That threat of getting dunked on deep means a lot. Don't know the last time we really had it.

It also enhances the effectiveness of the burn to push quickly periodically to pressure the defense even more. It is not just waiting 25 seconds to start the offense but keeping the defense working hard the whole time. This wears teams down a ton, defense is a lot more work than offense.

I don't care much for hoops unless I'm doing it for cardio...but this team got my attention when I turned on the Syracuse game for lack of anything else to watch...I might actually watch some March Madness this year.

Just think, and its been said a million times, but this was suppose to be a throw away year. One where not making the tourney would be ok because of injuries and bad luck.

I really wish our football team had this kind of moxie. Hopefully we see some of that this season.

In fairness, it's a lot easier to rebuild a season that is 30+ games than it is to rebuild one that is 12. The basketball team was lost after 12 games as well.

Apples and oranges is all I'm saying.

Excuses. The football team has a bunch of excuses lined up every year for not winning.

Brey has an equal number of, if not more excuses to not win. He wins anyway.

How is saying apples and oranges an excuse? Find a football team (not just ND) that can be decidedly mediocre for half a season and then win their remaining games and still get people excited for the remainder of that year to the extent people are about this team this season. If that happened with ND football, everyone would still bitch about the first half of the season being mediocre while still being excited about the next season.

In fact, it DID happen here. Last year. Mediocre first half (and mediocre is being kind), win streak to end the season leading to excitement for what might be the next season. Nobody looked at that ND team last yearand said "holy balls I can't believe how awesome this team is" because everyone was still pissed about Tulsa (among other things, but Tulsa especially). Yet you hear next to nothing about Georgia or Maryland.

The football team underperformed, the basketball team has outperformed. There are more opportunities for retribution in a basketball season than a football season. As I said. Apples and oranges. Saying that is reality, not an excuse.

I'm not really talking about your whole "apples and oranges" tirade. The point is, one team has consensus top talent and is perenially mediocre. The other team has subpar talent for its conference and yet still does extremely well.

The way I personally would see that though, is that this b-ball team is more athletic than any team Brey has fielded recently. But it took them until their 20th game to gel and now they are on a roll.

The football team has new faces every year (as does the basketball team), they need to learn to gel but given they only have 12 games to do it they have far less time than a team that plays 31 games in a season.

Not trying to make excuses because other teams around the country do it every year. But look at Auburn they win a National Championship then the next year with new faces they only go 8-5. If they played another 10-15 games thought maybe they get on a roll like the ND basketball team, you never know.

The football team is expected to go undefeated and win a National Championship every year.

The basketball team is expected to be one and done.

The basketball team has wins over Bryant, Dartmouth, Maine, Sacred Heart, Delaware St, Mississippi St. The football team hasn't played team of that caliber since the 1930's.

The basketball team has 8 wins in 27 games over Top 50 Teams and beaten one team in the next 50 for 9 wins over Top 100 Teams.

The basketball team has LOSSES to #119 Georgia and #151 Rutgers.

ND fans like you didn't show their faces after the football team lost to Tulsa who finished the season ranked #24 "BUT IT WAS TULSA" "fans" like you post.

Are you seriously arguing this? The basketball team won at #2 last year, lost four starters--including the BE PoY last year and a preseason BE first-teamer this year--and beat #1 this year. Brey can flat-out coach and most of his players show consistent and marked improvement, even from game to game. They are rock solid at home and are even becoming great on the road. I am only 21 and only became an ND fan after I enrolled here, so my knowledge base is limited, but I have never experienced consistent winning from the football program that the basketball team has shown me. The basketball team in four weeks has given me more reasons to be optimistic about its present and future than the football team has in four years. That's all I am saying.

Also, please don't judge the degree to which I'm a fan with this "ND fans like you..." crap. That's just ignorant.
