“I just felt it. I felt like that was the school for me as far as after football, 40 years after college, it would help me be successful.”

Neal slept on it, revisited the decision, discussed it with his family some more, and chose to stick with it.

“It came down to what’s best for me academically and also in regards to a social life, because you know you have to be social in college,” Neal says.

“I talked to all the coaches from my top four and I just felt it by talking to this specific coach that this was the school for me just because of the respect level that they have for me and my family.

“He doesn’t know, not yet. I’ll probably call him 30 minutes before my conference tomorrow and let him know that I’ll be attending his school.”
All that points to ND. I'm not sure about the social life part though

I have basically told myself he's Irish after reading that article. NO WAY is he talking about a school other than ND. He is Irish!!!!

This is pointing towards ND. Outside of Phork and the little whispers from the analysts, when he mentions the respect level, they have said all along how much they appreciated ND's approach towards his family's decision.

As much as I like what the article says and feel it points to us, remember he could have that opinion on any of the other schools. We just don't share it with him. We are partial to ND and view it as above all other universities. Hopefully he does too

I've been trying to not get my hopes up in case I'm disappointed with his choice. The quotes from that article have my hopes soaring. Unfortunately that means that I will be extremely upset if he doesn't choose ND

That quote makes me feel he is Irish. Now, just have to hear him confirm it for everyone. This can be a very good morning for everyone!

Social Life = (short drive to) Chicago?

With all respect, what if social life, means something more than drugs, alchohol, and loose women? What if it means structure, and not being set apart for wanting to get ahead? Or having some kind of spiritual framework?

Good point. It all depends on his definition of social life. For most 18 year old's it dancing, woman, and friends. However, Neal is a different kind of person (based on his recruitment) so you may be on to something....

Shall we set the over/under at 10 for the "I'm losing faith in BK and this staff" if Neal lands elsewhere?

Keep it classy if we lose out here people!

More importantly thanks for stopping by.

Stay classy!

Just struck me as a hint that UNC was the choice. Just rambling though, as usual.

No problem mi amigo. I lived in NC for a few years while I was in the Corps and there really isn't anything social about NC in my opinion. Outside of Raleigh, not a heck of a lot to do and nothing is really close by. The Raleigh/Chapel Hill area is nice, don't get me wrong but when you want to get out, you have to go far. Just my opinion though.

Berry, you're no fool for getting the time wrong;
you're a fool just like the rest of us for hanging out on this thing in the first place!

Funny how things don't change in thirty years.

You are not lying. J-ville is well, never mind on that. There is just nothing else in NC. The lure of Chicago only being an hour and a half is a lot better then anything Chapel Hill has to offer.

I'd like to add that I think the biggest obstacle against UNC are the sanctions that are looming.
