I still think Bosch eventually flips to ND. Seems he is more mad at ND then he was in love with Michigan. Only a matter of time.

My guess is Lisle goes to OSU now that he's been offered. Unlike Matuska, sounds like Lisle grew up a Buckeye fan.

Recently offered by OSU and will visit for their spring game. Also visiting Michigan this weekend even though he "knows the Wolverines are not taking any more offensive linemen in their 2013 class."

Notre Dame March 24, Northwestern April 7, Wisconsin April 14 and possibly Alabama April 28.

That's certainly one way to look at it. Sounds like they won't take his commitment unless they lose a OT though. Tuley-Tillman was always all skunkbear. And Chris Fox only has 3 offers according to 247. If he's not updating them of his other offers, then I doubt he's considering shopping around. Doesn't look like they're losing any linemen at his position.

If they're taking 5 OL regardless of position, then this theory goes out the door.

This whole situation is weird considering Hoke supposedly doesn't allow commits to take other visits. Why would he want another OL to visit if he thinks his current verbals aren't going anywhere because they can't visit other schools? I imagine Hoke's just paying his due diligence in case one does flip or an emergency comes up. McGovern is probably interested in them and wants to check out the school in case a spot comes open for him (see Bosch, Kyle or Kugler, Patrick flipping to ND or PSU, respectively).

The skunkbears also took 3 OTs last cycle so my theory could be plausible.

Im confused, what is there not to like? We've known for awhile now that Michigan is done on the OL and will only maybe take Pocic (and that's a big maybe) if he wants to come. Is what you dont like that this seems to imply they get Pocic or and that he is so interested in Michigan that he is willing to visit despite them being full?

It seems to me like mcgovern wants to visit everywhere he can so that he can evaluate all of his options and make an informed choice... I personally dislike the Ohio State offer/interest more than anything. Think this going to be a tough battle against so many suitors .

I'm not worried about scUM with this one either. He may as well visit, just in case their class fell apart for some reason, and he didn't see a fit at ND or OSU. Keep in mind, if that were to happen, one scenario would be Bosch decommitting. Which would most likely be good for Notre Dame.

Just a generic statement that I don't like all these kids being so interested in Michigan, especially when they are full at a kids position and he still wants to go.

I agree on OSU.

His dad gushed about the academics and the beauty of Vandy after their recent visit there. Could bode well for us this weekend.

Also scUM told him they want to take another OL they just have to wait to see how the numbers game play out....just trying to keep him interested in case they want to swap a current commit for him is what it sounds like to me.

After he visits ND, Northwestern (April 6), Wisconsin (April 14), and OSU (April 20) they will release a Top 3 or 5.

Colin McGovern is quickly becoming one of the best prospects in the Midwest and deservedly so. In a class with players like Ethan Pocic and Logan Tully-Tillman, he holds his own and deserves a longer look at possible All-America honors. He is more polished and a complete player and could possibly be ready to play earlier than either. Whoever secures the commitment from him will get a player with a lot of upside and a desire to be even better.

Size/Strength/Frame
The New Lennox, Ill. standout has the size to be a big-time player. He looks every bit the part of 6-foot-6 285 pounds, and with the ability to add around 20 pounds more. I would want to see him play around 305 pounds because he can support that weight and not lose much in his athletic ability.
On film his strength jumps out every play, he has a very strong upper body. He locks out and doesn’t let go when he pass blocks, showing off his shoulder, forearm, and grip strength. He shuts players down with his strong arms and uses the strength to finish the job and pancakes the man in front of him.

Athletic Ability
Athletically he is one of the better linemen I have seen in terms of his lateral movement and pass protection. Many guys have great straight ahead speed but can’t adjust in space……McGovern is not one of these guys. He has a very solid base and is able to break down his feet and make the block in open space.
He plays left tackle in a pulling offense, and is asked to repeatedly pull down the line and either kick out a defensive end or pull inside and seal the linebacker and does both well. He keeps himself low throughout his pull, and this shows me that he is a knee-bender not a hip-bender. Knee-benders a more athletic because it shows they have a strong core and can keep themselves in a good leverage position.

I see a lot of upside to what he can do in the both the passing and running game, and his athleticism has a lot to do with this. He moves very fluidly and fires off the ball and delivers his message with an attitude.

Run Blocker
Like every other high school linemen, the Lincoln Way-West star is best when he has his hand down and is routing guys off the line of scrimmage. What first jumps out at me on film is his stance and base, these things are keys to the foundation of a great offensive lineman. His stance is very balanced, and this shows me why he moves laterally so well. A lot of guys have their butts in the air and sell out going forward. McGovern keeps himself even and reaches outside well as he knocks guys off the ball.

A word to describe McGovern is a "finisher." He snaps out of his stance and delivers a blow with his active and aggressive arms. He uses his punch to get the defender moving off the ball and pumps his feet, drives his legs, keep a great base, and finishes his blocks by throwing the player to the turf. He takes a lot of pride in finishing his blocks. He can be away from the play and he stays after his guy and drives him in the ground. These are the kind of plays that get me excited.

Another great play was where he knocks his player down on the backside of the play and he ran the play down to make a block 20 yards down field on a helpless defensive back. These are the thing I think would make him excel at Notre Dame. Being an aggressive player who can move laterally and reach the edge will serve him well in the zone style of play that Notre Dame runs.

Pass Blocker
While most high school linemen are run blockers first, McGovern appears very adept in the passing game. He has good technique and carries his hands high and delivers a punch that stuns defensive linemen. He gets out of his stance quickly and gets upright with his hands below his chin waiting on the defender to make him move. Most high school players are overly anxious to get their hands on the lineman, and they lunge with their arms, and this pulls their shoulders forward and ultimately they drop their head. This makes it easy for a defender to swat down the offensive lineman’s hands and run by to the quarterback. McGovern doesn’t do this. He is patient, sets up and waits out the defender, then he locks on and doesn’t let go. He has the ability to be a left tackle, and that is a need for any team.

While blocking for five and seven step drops he is very patient but in the quick three step passing game he attacks and gets the defenders hand down. He snaps into the defender like he is run blocking, attacking with his hands, making it tough for his opponent to tell if it is a run or a pass. When the defender realizes it is a pass, the ball is away and McGovern is on his way to chase the play and block down field.

There is no question that he is a very good pass blocker and he will make it easier for a college coach to polish him up. If he ends up at Notre Dame he can make every block asked of him, three steps, five steps, or seven steps. He can block out in space if there is a moving pocket or get down field on a screen pass. He would be a great pick up for Notre Dame if they can land him.

Overall
The longer Colin McGovern’s recruitment, the more accolades he will rack up, and the future All-State player will be even more sought after. He has the ability and size that every college will be looking to secure, and being from the Chicago area, Notre Dame needs to set up a pipeline for the top Illinois talent. 

He can run block and is a great finisher, he can pass protect with the best of them. I believe he is a must get for Notre Dame because he fits what they want to do so well. I believe Notre Dame should be able to land many of the Midwest's best talent, and McGovern is certainly one of the best in the region this year. Hopefully the ND staff decide to make a big push for the McGovern and establish strong inroads in the talent rich area of New Lennox, Ill., and the greater Chicago area. And McGovern could be the first of many and that would make Notre Dame a force in recruiting the region and state once again.

Athletic Ability: 92 (Impressive athlete, quick off the ball, gets into his pass set quickly)

Technique/Footwork: 94 (Well-coach lineman, excellent run blocker, has good technique in the passing game)

Run Blocking: 94 (A stud in the run game, can dominate the point of attack, uses upper body violently)

Pass Blocking: 94 (Uses his hands violently, kick slides very well and stays between the defender and the QB)

Toughness/Finish: 95 (Strong, finishes virtually every play, great nastiness)

Intangibles: 92 (Hard worker, aggressive, explosive player )

Upside: 4

Overall Grade: 4

UM is holding a spot open for Laremy Tunsil, whom I read has legitimate interest in the skunkbears. If they fall out of the running with him, they'd have room for him.
