Negative recruiting at its finest.

"You see that coach at Notre Dame he gets mad when his team loses. Do you want to play for someone like that?"

I guess he would rather play for a guy with a propensity to drink and drive...you know, because that is so much better.

Add to that his propensity to commit a recruiting violation in recruiting said player.

When Missouri coach Gary Pinkel made his in-home visit with the Beckhams the third week of January, he came in a helicopter. Upon landing, he was greeted by Dorial, who then climbed into the aircraft.

A photograph of Dorial sitting in the aircraft was on the Internet within minutes. Not mentioned, though, was that his being in the helicopter was a violation of NCAA rules.

But Missouri knew it and the next day, offensive coordinator David Yost called John Beckham and told him he was headed to the university’s compliance office to report the violation.

To be fair, the article also did an smashing job of making Kiffy boy look like a pathetic, little b*tch.

The reality of the situation is that he isn't the first recruit to specifically call out BK for his sideline behavior.

I'm not saying he should or should not act like he does. What I would propose is that someone talk to NBC and ask them to simply cut down on the amount of times they show BK. It is in their best interest that we win as many games as possible. Losing a recruit or two because of the way Coach Kelly is perceived on the sideline hinders our ability to win games.

Might sound minor but no one is tuning into the games to specifically see what BK does. NBC has nothing to lose by cutting down his tv time.

I think knowing all we do, someone should coach Coach Kelly to get his face all red like that and when the cameras zoom in on him, have him turn around and drop some trou.

ESPN seemed at times last year to go out of its way to show Kelly on the sidelines yelling at his players. Hate those guys.

I personally have no problem with the way Kelly handles his team's mistakes--if you're allowing those players to attend one of the finest universities in the country for free in return for them catching a freaking ball, and instead they let the ball bounce off their helmet without them looking, they deserve to be yelled at

I am not going to lie I literally laughed out loud when I read that he dropped ND when he saw "Kelly throw his headset down." I figured there might be 10 coaches in the entire country that has not done that before.

Did Kelly actually throw his headset down on camera? I have watched most of the games, and never seen that. Most of my Kelly hater friends, (((UC fans))), would have broadcast that!

Yeah I don't remember ever seeing a headset throw-down. If so.... probably justified. (sigh)

A propensity to drink and drive WHEN HE HAS A FREAKING PERSONAL DRIVER IN HIS CONTRACT.

Yeah think about that for awhile...

The time I recall was him literally dropping the headset on the ground because the headset kid was not there to get it and he needed to meet the other coach in the middle of the field to shake hands. The whole time I was watching him (because of course the camera was fixated on him) I was like, he's going to combust in five....four....three....two....one.....he just dropped it and trotted out to the fifty. He was more than justified. Either South Florida, scUM, or So. Cal. game if I recall correctly.

Flat-out, dude is a football coach; an old school-type, it seems, with an ability to project a genuine family mentality while incorporating a flair for modern sensibilities.

The resurgence of ND football is not for the weak and timid. Nor for ones who are maladjusted to the times. Period.

If he couldn't handle a coach getting angry at his players for mistakes, I don't think he would've been a good fit for this program anyway

The only footage that I've seen that even remotely fits the description is at the end of the MSU game last year. After the fake field goal/touchdown he removed his headset and, I would say, dropped the headset to the ground before making his way to the center of the field. I'm sure it would be easy to find the clip...if you could stomach watching it again. Still pains me.

Either way, as many have stated, weak excuse. It seems he always wanted to stay near home. If it helps to overlook his chosen coach's flaws and highlight another coach's, so be it.

The shot at kiffycakes was funny though :)

DGB is clearly very attached to headphones. My broke a pair of crappy headphones once, and I bet DGB would beat my *** for doing that.

Did I misread the article? I thought the parents were the ones that didn't want him to go there because they allegedly saw BK throw the headset.

Lay off DGB. Lay it on the participation trophy parents. We were never in the mix.

I have a hard time believing a dropped pair of headsets cost us DGB. If anybody truly believes that, you really are out there.

No college football article is complete without bashing ND. If that was the best they could come up with, I'll gladly take it.

It was so random too. Arkansas this, Missouri, Texas blah, blah...then half way down, ND coach dropped a headset instead of handing it off.

Like, what?!
