He wasn't a 5-star on ESPN

Ignoring the fact that most people who follow recruiting don't take ESPN's lists very seriously, Floyd was the #29 overall recruit on ESPN and received a grade of 83 while Greenberry is 106th overall with a grade of 80. Your argument that Greenberry was more highly rated than Floyd does not hold up in any way, shape, or form.

We don't have any other receivers? No one else on the roster is as good as a senior in high school?

Would you be saying this if Darby didn't run a 4.3?

Again, we lost the chance to develop two of the best recruits in the nation into elite players. When they left, we replaced them with no one. Now that sets us back a year for another opportunity to develop players with similar ceilings.

Sure, we hope Brown, Ferguson, and Tee will all be good, but we lost the chance to develop two more elite guys. That is a long term detriment and will hurt us when this class is graduating.

This is the worst NSD since ND lost both Little's on signing day. You guys remember that year?

Sigh. How does that address what I just said about Darby? You were all plugging in Darby to start next year over Brown, Atkinson, and Jackson. Wake me up for the Champs Sports Bowl next year.

7-5 will get us in the Champs bowl?? I'll take it.

Agreed...wake me up.

Well considering 247 is comprised of top defections from Rivals and 247 regards DGB as the #3 WR this year and Floyd was #6 in 2008 on Rivals, I'd say you can make an argument for DGB being better.

Regardless, the real crux of my argument was that ND missed on a top national recruit in a position of need and it will undoubtedly come back to haunt them.

I don't think he gets it.

It's all puppies and ice cream. Don't worry, we didn't need that 5 star guy. We got a couple 3 star guys that we KNOW will be better, because we said so.

Umm.. yes? Greenberry was a higher rated WR than Floyd. And Darby was a beast of press cover corner. These are the type of players you win NCs with (see Julio Jones and Dre Kirkpatrick).

Floyd was a 5 star. Top WR in the class...

Those players bring you a lot closer to NCs than having no one in their spot and having a 5th year with Turner. Sorry but losing top national recruits at 2 positions of need is a huge long term loss.

Only if ND intends to play in a BCS bowl every year. These type of recruiting classes will allow us to go 8-4 and play in a Car Quest Bowl or a Chumps Sports Bowl every year or most years anyway.

Deandre Brown , Devier Posey, and Jonathon Baldwin all had better careers than Floyd right?

You can argue that Floyd was better than Green and Jones as well.

We don't get invites to those bowls because we have no affiliation to them. We have to hope for conferences to not fill their allotments to go anywhere but the BCS.

With Tommy Rees, Goodman, Toma,(Eiffert can't do it all and Riddick was a bust) leading our passing attack...8-4 would be a god send next year against that schedule.

I think we should all thank God that Kiel flipped to us.

And when he did there was droves of posters on here thinking that would lead to several top notch receivers scrambling to jump on board, but NOT!

It's like a ****ing hen house in here. Grab your balls, men. This thread is a ****ing embarrassment. Is everyone so entitled to think everything should just happen because we deserve it? Support ND or gtfo. Today didn't go as planned, so disappointment is fine, but some of your reactions make me want to stick my foot in your fourth point of contact.

Yeah...so?

This is a place to vent. So I don't go around punching the UT and AtM fans in the face at my office.

And ND deserves all the bashing they get today. It was a terrible NSD in which we lost a top guy to....drumroll.....HOUSTON.

Which, again, I HAVE TO HEAR ABOUT AS I LIVE IN HOUSTON. So kiss my white irish a$$ and allow me to use this outlet to express my anger.

You can keep acting like a spoiled child, it's your right. Just as it's mine to call you out for being the entitled poser you are. Carry on, but I can comment just like you. See, you think you're entitled to post what you want without my opinion offending your delicate sensibilities. That's not the case. I get to "vent" about the quality of poster, just like you get to "vent" about today.

What are you doing in Scranton, PA? Just wondering, I grew up there.

Recruiting is about momentum.

This is what one of the Rivals guys said a little while ago and it's obviously true. Some of the momentum you can control and other parts you can't.

We had an opportunity to gain momentum by putting FSU away when we had the chance, we didn't and it hurt momentum.

It's been said that the both Armsteads were ready to sign up if Armond was cleared medically. The doctors, in good faith, couldn't clear him. If the Armstead's come, it's a lot more likely that we get Shaq or Poole to flip. Given that momentum, it's less likely that DG flips to Houston. Etc. Etc.

Last year Lynch flips to us which led to Ishaq coming on board and then Niklas. If Lynch didn't flip last year and Ishaq and Niklas don't commit, people would've been screaming for the Coach's head just like they are this year. "Kelly can't close" blah blah blah. Instead a few breaks went our way last year and we are singing the recruiting ability of our coaches.

Both year's the coaches were doing the same things. Last year we got some breaks, this year we didn't get as many. That's life. If the Armsteads would've been cleared and came to ND and we got Shaq or Poole and held DG what would you all be saying??? You all would be cheering from the mountain tops and would've the staff had done anything different? Answer is no. The only thing that was different was a doctor's opinion on clearing Armond.

Momentum is a hard thing to control.

Football is a game of inches. True on the field and true in recruiting
