Anyone have info on this 8 day Spanish course? Sounds pretty sketchy. Is it already too late to just take a Spanish class for the rest of the semester? Or just take a semester-length online class?

Prosise is a ball hawk. He is an Ed Reed type safety. Standifer will play corner.

ummmmmm, I guess you could be right. I mean Ed Reed had to start somewhere, but, to say that an incoming freshman may end up being as good as one of, if not the best safety to play in the NFL. WOW, that's a little stretch, but hey I hope you're right.

Just to start, I have no information on the online Spanish class that Anthony is taking. In college we offered 6 week online courses. I literally would spend a couple hours the day the homework/test/quiz needed to be completed and passed the course easily. So in theory 6 days to pass an online course if I didn't have to wait for the next week to turn things in/get assignments and such.

Maybe we can just get him to take a 13 hour trip in a VW Passat

I could be wrong, but I dont think he has to FINISH the class before NSD. If you think about it. Majority of seniors are still taking high school classes and dont have enough credits to graduate, but they are on track to graduate... As long as Standifer shows that he taking the necessary credits and proves it to admissions, I dont see why that wouldnt qualify. Then he just has to pass his class by the end of the semester like most of seniors.

I really don't think the language class is a big deal. His mom called the issue "a very small hurdle". If it was made out to them to be a 50/50 chance of getting it approved, I don't think she would be using those words.

Should know by early next week if the Spanish can be approved.

As long as his Spanish checks out, he is ND. That much is obvious. I believe I read yesterday on Twitter that Coach Martin was going to his school today. Laquon Treadwell mentioned it and I think they go to school together. I believe they said the Spanish thing wouldn't clear up until sometime next week but that Coach Martin would be able to tell him as soon as today if he is good to go.

Something doesn't make sense to me. Michigan has a two year foreign language requirement. How could he have been commited there and on track to get in with only his one year requirement. Pitt also has a 2 year foreign language requirement like ND and Michigan. The only school that he's looking at that doesn't is Boise. I just don't get why he's suddenly realizing about this foreign language requirement when 3 out of the 4 schools he's looking at require it.

Here's the link to the information.

Could it be a case where he was registered for it his senior year (so he cleared UM Admissions) but then dropped it and no one realized the implications until just recently?

Happy to have this kid, but . . .

Happy to have this kid, but . . .

. . . man is it depressing to think about how much time and money has been expended on recruiting these last two weeks, with little if any results. especially after getting Gunner in the fold.

just the involved travel cost per recruit eventually signed at least matches the value of the recruit's scholarship.

and that does not even include an allocable portion of each coach's salary.

wow. that's an awful lot invested over the last couple of weeks, with little or any apparent results.

sorry to sound so negative. i'd rather be positive.

Results in recruiting are fluid. We could hit the jackpot come NSD and those results would be directly related to what has gone on in the last two weeks coupled with the staff relentless approach this entire cycle. Other than that, in the immortal words of Omar, "It's all in the game".

Thanks for trying to keep my spirits up.

I will kiss you over the internet, if you are right.

if there is one thing you needn't worry yourself about when it comes to ND, and especially ND football, its money (costs). We've got PLENTY
be negative on missing on guys we like/want but please dont worry/get upset about how our Ath Dept spends ND's money

I guess what depresses me is, it's kind of some of our hard-earned money they are spending, when you think about it.

are you an acccountant? :)

i actually am a CPA, but have never practiced as such.

speaking of accounting, i think we all should definitely thank ND's No. 1 ranked business school for a lot of any recruiting success we have had this year.

don't think it was the 8-5 season which has us still in the top 10.

even Neal mentioned how much the coaches emphasized the academic reasons to attend ND.

nothing better when speaking to the recruit's mother on an in-home visit, than to emphasize the academics.

It's not coming out of your pocket. This is how ND has to recruit. They can't just drive from South Bend to Chicago, Indy, or Ft. Wayne. The Irish aren't going to fill up their roster with local prospects because the talent, with a few exceptions, isn't there. We aren't Texas. Our coaches have to fly to CA, FL, NJ, GA, NC, SC....you get the point.
