That's what I was thinking every sign is pointing to ND for this kid. I guess he can't see those signs. Someone is trying to tell him something but he's not listening.

He better, the Oregon spread won't work in the NFL. The blocking schemes would get absolutely blown up in the pros...he's going to have to adapt.

Oregon gets blown up when it plays the SEC.
Will be interesting to watch him, though. Chip Kelly's got such an established, original offensive system. NFL defenses tend to treat that sort of thing with contempt, and the defenses tend to win that argument. I'd love to see more innovation in NFL offenses - most are so damn boring. Will be curious if Kelly can pull it off.

Back to Armstead, though, this can't hurt our chances. Any other commits of there's we might get back in on?

I doubt this is true but the older has said that Arik gets a bigger part of the decision because he will be going to the school for 3-5 years where For Armond it's just one.

According to CBSsports.com, Chip Kelly is staying at Oregon. But then again, CBS is the site that reported JoePa died Saturday night. Oh well, I guess we'll have to see.

Either way, this had to have put some doubt into Arik's mind about the stability of the head coach position at Oregon. Can't be a bad thing for us.

I still don't understand the "distance factor." Auburn and Hawaii are even further from home in mileage than South Bend.

Long Sapp update:

Saban, Sarkesian, Tedford, Chizik, Kiffin, and someone from Oregon are doing in-homes this week.

Sapp still thinks we are in the top 3 along with Cal and from what I gather, Oregon. He thinks distance is what is holding ND back. I can elaborate more but the rest is just guessing. He did say Gus likes the new Cal D-line coach.

Anyone know if our staff is going to visit him?

4 out of 6 huh. Those analysts are from various regions of the country too, no? Maybe, they are hearing that Armond is likely to get approved by our doctors. Standifer, Armsteads, Ekanem to close.....Yes Please!

We follow ND recruiting much more closely than those guys. Do not read into those picks too much

I'd generally agree with this, but Arik was the flavor of the week last week. Those guys were likely tuned in. They would have had multiple sources, whereas we were only getting the ND side of things.

I guess the real takeaway is that national recruiting services are't getting clear signals that ND is out at this point. On the other hand, none of them picked us to get Nelson.

No one has insight on the medical clearance issue. The only way I see Arik at ND is if Armond gets approved (even then, who knows), which I think is doubtful at this point.
