Pretty funny stuff
KALAMAZOO -- The Michigan State-Michigan rivalry was on full display for the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association today.
MSU coach Mark Dantonio and U-M wide receivers coach/recruiting coordinator Jeff Hecklinski apparently had different interpretations of their roles in a panel discussion about recruiting.
After brief remarks from Dantonio, Hecklinski was in the midst of a detailed presentation about the Wolverines' approach to recruiting and how important the state's high school coaches are to that effort when Dantonio interrupted.
"OK, here's what we're going to do," Dantonio said, cutting off Hecklinski, "we're going to get other people up here. We're going to talk about more than the University of Michigan."
Hecklinski stood in for head coach Brady Hoke, who was traveling back from Houston, where he was honored as a finalist for Bear Bryant coach of the year.
After Dantonio's interruption, Wayne State coach Paul Winters, Siena Heights coach Jim Lyall and former Alma coach Jim Cole were brought up to participate -- and Hecklinski's time was done.
Hecklinski chose not to dwell on the altercation, either.
“Look, I understand my place,” said Hecklinski, who thought he had a 15-minute window to speak about his program.
