This could be a wonderful opportunity for the University of Notre Dame to change someone's life dramatically. I don't know enough to say they should keep his offer, just saying this could be just the place that could save and change his life. I wish him well and hope he surrounds himself with great people at whatever school he goes to.

This classes primary needs were playmakers and secondary. Next years, starting with Elmer, I'm sure will be OL heavy.

Yuri has a new Twitter accounts: @YuriWright

I assume there's still no definitive word on if we're still pursuing him?

He probably should have stayed off the media world for a little bit.

We'll see. If he's learned to be a little more circumspect on Twitter, there should be no harm in it.

Can you imagine how difficult it is for Yuri to go from Top 5 CB to a cautionary tale, all while being unable to defend himself?

Man, just does not seem like good judgment to get right back on Twitter after all this. I really want to give the kid a chance to prove himself, but when he keeps making bad judgments, at some point I am sure the coaching staff is going to throw up their hands and walk away - if they haven't already done so.

I hear you. But there had to be a better way to get his message out. Could have spoken with his local papers and apologized for bad judgment. Could have called in and talked with Bill King on 247 sports, etc... Going right back to the source of what got him in trouble in the first place is a bad call, IMO.

OK, so no OL but where do we go with the others? I still feel we are going to pick one out of the blue like we got Niklas.

It's much too early to accurately project this stuff, but assuming we take four 5Ys into 2012 (Goodman, Cave, Slaughter, KLM) and three 5Ys into 2013 (Martin, Watt, and Fox), we'll only have 16 slots available. If we take Golic for 2012 as well, we'll have 17 slots.

Most pressing positional needs will be WR, TE, OL, DL, and ILB.

Initially he fell off my wish list altogether. After thinking on it, if he has true remorse, everyone deserves a second chance.

I would like to see Kelly & Co. sit down with him and hear him out.

Sure what he did was stupid and sure he's 18 and knows better but guess what when we were that age we did stupid things as well.

Our mistakes were most likely very different and maybe worse or not but they were mistakes and sure they have consequences but the let's set an example and ruin people has gone overboard as every year passes.

I'm 33 now and while there is still a lot of that 18 year version of me still with me there are plenty of it that isn't because of time and experience and my view and outlook has changed and there are things that I would no longer do that I did then because I know there not right or bias or whatever but at the same time I never forgot what it was like to be 18.

I know I have regrets and there are things that I would change in hindsight because of what I know now but what he did doesn't deserve to be lost over this.

I hope Kelly & Co. tell him that the offer is still good but that because of his action there are consequences and that if he's going to be part of a ND family you have to behave in a certain manner and because of the situation they are willing to move on but with the understanding that he's on a shorter lease than the others that his 2nd chance has already been taken.

I don't know how things would play out academically with an expulsion, but I'd be fine with the staff giving him a second chance if he's in our plans.

If we haven't pulled our offer yet I really hope we don't. The kid deserves a second chance, I mean c'mon its twitter. A Notre Dame education would really turn things around

Since we are speculating, and most of us seem to want to be able to give Yuri a second chance, how can we know if ND has pulled his offer? Is that something that will just stay under wraps or is there any way to find this out?

Im sure Yuri will have to demonstrate he is worthy of the offer not being pulled for at least the next few weeks here. And I'm sure he knows if he does come to ND that he has to show he is committed to higher standards.

By no means am i trying to pick a fight here... but can we at least admit that this kid needs to publicly say he is sorry for the tweets. I really do not see how ND could take him otherwise. We all jumped on MI OL Magunson for calling somone a "faggot" on twitter and I think it is safe to safe that Yuri did much worse... I am all for second chances - that is the American way. But he needs to make a public appoligy before ND can touch him in my opinion... Keep in mind that he almost committed to ND at the US army game. I wonder what the support level would have been had he already been committed to ND.
Again - if you disagree - that is fine - I 100% am not looking for a fight or calling anyone out - just my opinion...

I think he has to make it right publicly, for himself. No problem with what you said.

I guess I am not like most people on this board. I do not think he deserves a second, third, fourth...chance. He reportedly got warned several times to get off twitter and yet he is still on there. I know football is important and all, but I rather go 8-5 every year and have high quality student-athletes on team, rather than having people that say or do absurd things that can hurt the university.
