Ok, I'm out of this one.

This young man made a mistake, I get that, but we do not need to pile on him and compare him to Will Hill.

Calling him a "thug" or a "SEC criminal" is ludicrous....

The staff would be foolish to ignore those tweets...they are a sign of real trouble. And btw, a First amendment lawsuit is a pretty ridiculous consideration since Notre Dame does not have to explain why it pulls or extends a scholarship offer.

I think the only way this kid should be allowed in the door is if he meets with our coaches and explains satisfactorily that these tweets are an off-target joke and issues an apology on twitter as well as a public announcement of apology through whichever news service he wishes to speak to. Then he drops his twitter account and goes silent. If during the meeting the kid adopts any gansta attitude pull the offer and move on. An empty chair is better than on filled with that kind of poison attitude.

Do you even realize that most of the tweets were lyrics to lil' wayne songs? You don't think that kids currently on our team talk like that? You are wrong then. Go read some of DaVaris Daniels tweets pre Notre Dame. He used the "N" word, objectified woman and used loads of profanity. Now, he is a valued member of the university and football team. He is still the same kid that we recruited, but he has grown up enough to know to cool it over twitter. You have no proof that Yuri couldn't do the same.

Furthermore, adopts a "gangsta" attitude? What in the hell does that mean? Do you mean act like a poor black kid from the ghetto? That is half of every college football team and America that you are referring to. Not to mention, the comment wreaks of racial undertones. He is in fact a poor, black kid from the ghetto. So if you meant that if he didn't somehow morph into an elloquent, intelligent, well educated young man with manners... then you simply need to get out of the suburbs once in a while and see what is going on in the real world.

The fact that some of you are making these broad generalizations about a kid that made some bad comments over twitter is sickening. I hope one day when your kids make a dumb mistake they are given more understanding and dignity then you are all giving to Yuri.

I personally hope that he finds a place where he can enrich himself on the football field and in life, and prove to all of you that your rash judgement of his character are not only misguided and wrong, but cruel.

There are some pretty emotional grown men in the ND fan base. It's kind of embarrassing. What do you think high school kids talk about? Yes, I understand some of the comments shouldn't be said by a top 100 football recruit. Give him a ****ing break. Yes, he should have used some foresight, but why are you so emotionally invested in this? Grow up

LOL I Like how the coach says i hope this doesnt ruin his college future, as if it could have any other impact but that kind.

I dont see how the school doesnt just say delete your social media accounts and put him on some kind of 1 last chance probation or something.

I think it got lost in the shuffle on page 78 when I posted it, so for anyone who missed it, here's an article on Wright's expulsion by a NJ reporter who's been following him for the last ~3 years.

I think its possible to recognize that the tweets were inappropriate and also understand that the difference between Yuri and most other 17 year old kids is that he said inappropriate things on a social networking website and is followed on that site by people outside of his social circle. His tweets were unfortunate, the aftermath has been equally unfortunate for him, and the reaction on the part of some of us here has been pretty disappointing, too.

I don't know enough about Yuri to know if his tweets are a true reflection of his character, but I do know that I cannot make a judgment about his character based solely on those tweets. From an ND recruiting perspective, the coaches will learn enough about Yuri to form an opinion that will dictate how they handle his recruitment. Our opinions are mostly baseless and entirely irrelevant.

REPS...

Ok about hiring the lawyer and why I brought it up. If not hire at least talk to one. He has a great opportunity to play college football possibly play in the NFL, standing to make millions of dollars, on top of that having a scholarship to play football and get a quality education. Now this might be ripped away, when many of the tweets took place months ago. Most are from rap lyrics. I realize these are mistakes, but most of you understand this is how most 17/18 year old's think. I would hardly call this kid a thug. He would have gotten a full ride to play at major university's such as Notre Dame. Obviously the kid is not dumb just shouldn't have published things on a stupid website for the world to see. I just feel he might have some kind of grounds to get some kind of diploma from the school if plausible. Like I said, if I were him I'd be calling the best lawyer I could find for some help. I'm sure they could resolve this in a better way, rather than jeopardizing a kids future.

On the flip side, none of them voted for us to land Darby or Agholor, and only one of 6 thought we'd get Yuri.

let's just poll 6 members of IE to get a more accurate prediction.

I agree that if we haven't pulled our offer Wright will be Irish

Love it. Funny, Yuri is listed as Rutgers....Have we pulled our offer? If not, I'd have to think we were the favorite?

There's been no reports that we've pulled Yuri's offer, to my knowledge and I don't think we will. I feel like if ND was going to it would already have been pulled. I think the staff is letting twitter-gate blow over and accept his commitment on/near NSD.

I think it's the opposite. Where Michigan publicly pulled his offer to demonstrate their virtue to the world, I think we quietly fade out with Yuri.

If we sign him, we'll know I was wrong!

Not so sure about that...

Just wondering why they would delay a decision on pulling his scholarship with NSD fast approaching? They've seen the tweets, I'm sure they've talked to Yuri, coaches, teachers, whoever they feel they need to to make a decision.

What don't they have in order to make a decision? Maybe it's already been pulled but if it has been pulled I'm sure we'd all know by now.

I'm sure figuring out if he's going to graduate is a concern.

It probably won't be an official "pulling" of his scholarship. The staff might just not return phone calls, etc. Regardless, basing this discussion on the FAKE twitter account is pointless.

And no, I highly doubt we would know if it's been pulled.

See Perkins.

All we have to do is stop recruiting him. There need not be a public announcement saying we pulled his offer.

From every account I've ever heard of a recruit communicating with our staff is that they've been very straight-forward and honest with recruits. I don't see our staff giving Yuri the cold shoulder and just ignoring him to indicate they're no longer interested.

Agree to disagree.

I think we would. It's hard to keep recruiting news under wraps, especially since twitter is so hip.

I think that's different. Thomas was slow played for months, no? Yuri had ND interest and since his visit (Dec 16th, I think) he's had major interest in ND and the staff, according to Yuri, wants him really, really bad. I'm sure they've talked to him since the twitter thing (or whatever it is).

Thomas probably hasn't had a phone call for over a month, so ignoring him is a lot different than a high-profile recruit that you 'really' want that you've been in contact with very recently.
