The staff would be foolish to ignore those tweets...they are a sign of real trouble. And btw, a First amendment lawsuit is a pretty ridiculous consideration since Notre Dame does not have to explain why it pulls or extends a scholarship offer.
I think the only way this kid should be allowed in the door is if he meets with our coaches and explains satisfactorily that these tweets are an off-target joke and issues an apology on twitter as well as a public announcement of apology through whichever news service he wishes to speak to. Then he drops his twitter account and goes silent. If during the meeting the kid adopts any gansta attitude pull the offer and move on. An empty chair is better than on filled with that kind of poison attitude.
Wasn't Will Hill actually involved in some criminal activity?
UNlike Mr. Wright.
Check your pm'sdoes anyone a link to his comments, or a summation of what he said? I find a million articles saying how horrible his tweets were, but cant any reference to those tweets anywhere...
Do you even realize that most of the tweets were lyrics to lil' wayne songs? You don't think that kids currently on our team talk like that? You are wrong then. Go read some of DaVaris Daniels tweets pre Notre Dame. He used the "N" word, objectified woman and used loads of profanity. Now, he is a valued member of the university and football team. He is still the same kid that we recruited, but he has grown up enough to know to cool it over twitter. You have no proof that Yuri couldn't do the same.
Furthermore, adopts a "gangsta" attitude? What in the hell does that mean? Do you mean act like a poor black kid from the ghetto? That is half of every college football team and America that you are referring to. Not to mention, the comment wreaks of racial undertones. He is in fact a poor, black kid from the ghetto. So if you meant that if he didn't somehow morph into an elloquent, intelligent, well educated young man with manners... then you simply need to get out of the suburbs once in a while and see what is going on in the real world.
The fact that some of you are making these broad generalizations about a kid that made some bad comments over twitter is sickening. I hope one day when your kids make a dumb mistake they are given more understanding and dignity then you are all giving to Yuri.
I personally hope that he finds a place where he can enrich himself on the football field and in life, and prove to all of you that your rash judgement of his character are not only misguided and wrong, but cruel.

No it's not. And no we're not.
There are some pretty emotional grown men in the ND fan base. It's kind of embarrassing. What do you think high school kids talk about? Yes, I understand some of the comments shouldn't be said by a top 100 football recruit. Give him a ****ing break. Yes, he should have used some foresight, but why are you so emotionally invested in this? Grow up
Love it. Funny, Yuri is listed as Rutgers....Have we pulled our offer? If not, I'd have to think we were the favorite?
There's been no reports that we've pulled Yuri's offer, to my knowledge and I don't think we will. I feel like if ND was going to it would already have been pulled. I think the staff is letting twitter-gate blow over and accept his commitment on/near NSD.
Not so sure about that...
Just wondering why they would delay a decision on pulling his scholarship with NSD fast approaching? They've seen the tweets, I'm sure they've talked to Yuri, coaches, teachers, whoever they feel they need to to make a decision.
What don't they have in order to make a decision? Maybe it's already been pulled but if it has been pulled I'm sure we'd all know by now.
All we have to do is stop recruiting him. There need not be a public announcement saying we pulled his offer.
that's what i've been waiting to hear, but haven't yet.
I'm sure figuring out if he's going to graduate is a concern.
It probably won't be an official "pulling" of his scholarship. The staff might just not return phone calls, etc. Regardless, basing this discussion on the FAKE twitter account is pointless.
And no, I highly doubt we would know if it's been pulled.
See Perkins.
From every account I've ever heard of a recruit communicating with our staff is that they've been very straight-forward and honest with recruits. I don't see our staff giving Yuri the cold shoulder and just ignoring him to indicate they're no longer interested.
Agree to disagree.
I think we would. It's hard to keep recruiting news under wraps, especially with the emergence of twitter.
